Please help with first project

     I have a project completed by a professional Fusion 360 modeler, but the "native" files sent to my Yahoo e-mail have been removed BY YAHOO!! and will not restore them . Since that time I am not able to contact the individual I used to generate the model in the first place but do have access to it via a secure link into the Fusion 360 viewer. I can (and have) downloaded the file as a ".stl" format, BUT can NOT edit in this form. HELP!! I have to have these files to work with another company.

     I am not a Fusion 360 or Auto Cad user or designer myself (that's why I contracted it). Thanks for any help.

Thanks for posting! STL (mesh) files need to be converted to solid bodies to be edited (for the most part) in Fusion 360. While you could try converting the STL to a solid in Fusion 360, I would imagine that you should be able to download the file from the viewer page in a variety of formats, including the Fusion 360 Archive (native) format:

It is possible that you may not see these options. In this case, the design you are trying to download may have been saved in a non-Fusion native format, or may only contain mesh or t-spline bodies. In this case you will need to use the previously linked instructions to convert the STL to a solid body in Fusion 360.

Thank you for the prompt reply. So,... to confirm,.. the *"native"* (*and
therefore "editable"*) file is named "Fusion 360 Archive"? Correct?

Yes - there are other solid format files at you can edit in Fusion (STEP, IGES...), but I would recommend downloading the "Fusion 360 Archive" format. This will download a .F3D or .F3Z file that you can upload to the Fusion Data Panel.
