One Body per File option only generates a single file.

Hello Fusion community,

I have a design that is made up of multiple non connected bodies that I wish to export as separate STL files. When selecting objects to export, I am only able to select a single body at a time. If I have multiple bodies selected prior to attempting to export, a seemingly random body is individually chosen by Fusion and shown as the selected object in the 3D print prompt. The method of trying to Shift-Click or Window-Select while the 3D Print utility is open does not allow me to add any additional bodies to my selection. Because I can only have object selected using this method, I do not have access to the structure drop down to change from "One File"

Many other posts have explained that multiple bodies can be selected by clicking on either the specific Component or the Bodies tab in the browser. Both of these options work for selecting the whole design file but only register as a single object as being selected in the 3D/ export prompt. Having selected the multiple bodies in my design either by selecting the component or bodies via the body heading tab, the structure tab now allows me to change between the two options of One File and One body Per File. The resulting exported file (Singular) does contain all the bodies that were selected but has them all connected. This same file is produced regardless of which structure option of "One File" and "One Body Per File" is selected.

I have also seen mention of exporting the bodies via other formats such as mesh. At this point the printing software I use does not read .mesh files and I haven't looked into what steps are required for converting back to .stl

I have tested this with the design having converted all bodies to components as well as a different design that was made up of different components.

Please let me know if there is something I have to change in my process to allow for exporting these multiple files.

At the time being, I am able to individually export each object but would love to use a feature that is seemingly already in Fusion.

As of posting on 4/24/25, my software is up to date. I am currently on Autodesk Fusion Personal.

Hello John,

Thanks for the solution.

I don't understand why fusion doesn't produce the same set of multiple files when following the same process using the 3D print button as opposed to Save Mesh. Let that be a question for another day!

Regards,

Anthony
