No Cloud Credits for Educational License

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi all,

For some reason I am having an issue with cloud credits. I'm under the impression that educational accounts have unlimited cloud credits, but when I go to render a motion study, Fusion tells me that I am out of cloud credits.

I've tried updating my serial number, but I could not find how to update from within the program (directions online are out of date) and there was no option to through windows REGEDIT.

Thanks for any help

Hey @Anonymous,

You are correct that educational accounts have unlimited cloud credits, but educational accounts are also limited to using a maximum of 16 cloud credits per job. Could you check to see how many cloud credits are required for your job?

If your job is above the threshold, then try reducing the resolution although that may result in a pretty small viewing window.

Best,

Lucas

Does this limit also apply to Startup license? I cannot use more than 16 points per job either.

Yes, the 16 Cloud Credit limit applies to both Education and Startup licenses.

Commercial users - those who pay for their Fusion license - are able to spend as many Cloud Credits on their renderings as they wish, but they must pay for the cloud credits. That means you're able to render larger, higher quality motion studies and turntables. That being said, even as a commercial subscriber, there is still the 4,000 x 4,000 resolution limit for still renderings (which equates to 16 cloud credits).

Out of curiosity, what is your use case for wanting to be able to use more than 16 cloud credits at a time? If we allowed you to purchase the cloud credits required for larger jobs, would you do that?

I would like to render movies with motion study and this kind of task takes a huge amount of points.  I would be interested in buying these points but it depends on the price and use conditions.

is it true even now that educational licenses have unlimited credits?

now for example I have educational version, which shows unlimited Cloud points but I cannot use generative design which was the most interesting feature for me. I would be interested how much the cloud points for this will cost, but I can't even see this: there's no "Get individual credits" button.
