My Recent Data No Longer Working

The most recent data in MY RECENT DATA is over a week old. And to make things worse, the latest version of Fusion has made it to where if you close the last tab, it goes out to to some new kind of HOME screen, instead of just an "Untitled" tab. This closes your Data Panel and grays out your Data Panel icon so you can't reopen your Data Panel to get to the file you want to open.  It shows you all kind of files that it says is your Recent files, but none of them are. They are all well over a week old. The only way I have found to get back into the project I was working on is to click on some file I have no desire to open just so it will turn my Data Panel back on and then I can find the file I DO want to open. And this is all because I made the mistake of closing the last tab, like I have been doing for years with no repercussions until this last 'upgrade'. Now I have to try to remember to leave some file I do not need open so I can open other files I do need open.

Hi @haldavis2000 ,

Thank you for the detailed explanation, I understand how disruptive this is to your workflow.

There are two things happening here:

1. “Recent Data” not showing latest files

This is not expected behavior. Recent files should reflect your latest activity.

A few things to check:

  • Make sure you are in the correct Hub/project (top left selector)
  • Try signing out and signing back in to refresh the data
  • Check if the files are visible in the Data Panel → your project folders

2. Home screen + Data Panel behavior

With the newer experience:

  • When the last tab is closed, Fusion opens the Home screen
  • In this state, the Data Panel is disabled until a design is opened

I agree this can feel disruptive, especially if you rely on the Data Panel to open files.

I Will pass this feedback to our development team, until that please follow the workaround

Workarounds

  • Instead of closing all tabs, keep one design open
  • Or from the Home screen, use File → Open to access your projects
  • You can also open files directly from the Home screen recent list (once it refreshes correctly)

To help investigate the “Recent Data” issue

Could you please share:

  • Your Fusion version (Help → About)
  • Whether this happens across all projects or specific ones
  • A screenshot of your Home screen recent list vs Data Panel

If possible, also share diagnostic log files:

  • Help → Support and Diagnostics → Diagnostic Log Files
  • Zip and attach

The “Recent Data not updating” part definitely needs investigation. Once we have the logs, we can take it forward.

Appreciate you reporting this

Signing out and back in seemed to have fixed the "Recent Data" Problem. Thank you for that.

However, I would be very grateful if you guys could include the Data Panel on the new home screen, though. I use the Data Panel dozens of times a day to navigate my files. I am used to that. It is second nature. As is closing a file I no longer need. I've been doing that for years. Now, all of a sudden, I do what I have always done (close the last file) and I get punished by being kicked out into some new unrecognizable screen with no apparent way back. Yes, I know there is a work around now, but it is just that. A work around. How easy would it be to at least make the Data Panel icon work in the new home screen. It's there. It just doesn't work. Can it not be made to work?

Meanwhile, I have created a blank file called "DO NOT CLOSE" that I load when I first open Fusion. I'm not as apt to close that one as I am some part I have to remember to keep open but no longer need.
