Hello, with the May 15th, 2026 update for autodesk fusion 360, the custom properties I had created for my components were lost, and on top of that, they are now locked as read-only, so I cannot update or edit them anymore.

This is a huge problem because I have hundreds of files with thousands of properties that I can no longer access or even attempt to fill in again.

I have tried every solution suggested by the assistant included in the software, and none of them worked (trying to change the properties from the Autodesk Web Hub, switching the design to the new hybrid type, changing the part number of the main component, checking that no component is derived or linked). Nothing works, and I cannot find a way to fix this.

I am in crisis mode.

Hello all, just to give an update. A fix is being worked on right now and should hopefully be available soon.

Same issues at our company...   All of our parts were assigned custom properties and part numbers, now when these are inserted into new drawings and links broken so the part can be modified (extrusions) all custom properties are lost....  this has never happened before the last update.

I've watched Fusion grow over the years; it's adapted so well to my needs that I've always forgiven its limitations and flaws.
But this latest update has made it unusable for me.
Incorrect bills of materials, component descriptions that have disappeared or changed for no apparent reason.
Unacceptable wait times for property changes.
I'm shocked.
Right now, I see no other solution than to look for another software to migrate to.

@emily.caulfield Good morning. Any updates on this? I had hoped we would we at the very least be seeing a monthly update this July that fixed this but we're now over a month in and I still can't use the features I'm paying thousands of dollars a year for.

I have the same problem.  I cannot edit the description on component parts?  Says I do not have permission or it says its read only.

I dont see where to manage the shared part number thing.  It shows me the icon that says its part of a group, what group?  I didnt group anything.

I have a support ticket in with AutoDesk and have been coordinating with our account reps and this has been placed at the highest priority level.

It should be nice if autodesk keeps us informed, we have a very big lack on performance for 2 months, this is a very big issu that seems to be done nothing about.

I refered several times to case 25958578, so autodesk please do your job and listen to your customers, I've got no more patience.

Had a call with support, a sort-fo workaround:
Export the model, create new folder in fusion, upload it there and open

At the moment i can work with my file that way, i don't know how long, but i hope, that i can send it to manufacturing before it blows up again...

I will try to stay calm and polite. but THIS situation caused me and my team a lot of headaches:

- suddendly I get old PART NAMES in my BOM

- I have to resave the files and edit EACH file manually to have the correct part name

- sometimes I can't even edit the Part name / number even I CREATED the PART and have the highest admin rights

- there is no help or information from AUTODESK

WE WANT A PREDICTABLE PRODUCT AND NOT BETA TESTING some nonfunctional stuff

Hello all, apologies for the delay in responding. I have a feeling that this thread has brought in a blend of a few different issues and I wanted to provide a bit more information to see if this helps anyone.

We are in the process of updating all hubs to the new collaborative editing experience. This brings with it a number of features and functionality that essentially brings Fusion into the modern age when it comes to data management and there is no going back. Of course, there is still a lot of work to do, and we have also realized that this has exposed workflows that customers have used for years that did not conform to our "intended" workflows, leaving all of you in a significant lurch.

I think the main issue seen after the update is caused by shared part numbers (SPN). When a hub is updated to collaborative editing, it searches through the hub and groups together all designs that have the same part number (including ones still in recycle bins). Unfortunately, this has grouped together designs completely unrelated to each other, especially since the part numbers used to default to match the part name and it was often the case that parts were just named Component1, Component2, etc. The "primary" part in the group is what manages the properties for all other "secondary" parts in the group. BOMs and drawings also reference the primary part, which is why those two things have suddenly changed. Further, when creating the groups, the oldest design (based on creation date) is designated as the primary, and it could be the case that the primary is in the recycle bin. As a result, properties cannot be changed while it's in there.

We already have a tool in the hub administration to separate shared part numbers, restoring each part back to its original state. This should help address incorrect BOMs and parts lists in drawings. We are also working to expand this to work on SPNs in bulk and give you a complete view of all SPNs in your hub. Please give this tool a go and let us know if that has solved anything. 

ps. I have also poked our dev team regarding the other issues here so hopefully I can find an answer soon.
