Mirroring Error

Hello,

Wants to mirror the body on my radar tower in the XZ axis, and the program does not do that.

I posted this topic in German Forum but I didn't receive any answer 😞

So mystery guy "body" and mirror axis "XZ".

The body is shown to me as mirrored right side, but somehow it is wrong in the axis and there is an error message "calculation failed" ??? I do not understand this at all!
I am done if the simple mirroring does not work for me.
What is again wrong in my drawing, that the program cannot calculate that.

But it still worked before and worked wonderfully, suddenly nothing works anymore.

The cause of the failure is bad modeling practices, many warnings and errors and all those suppressed features, it is a wonder that you got as far as you have. Starting over from scratch is the best way to go and you would not have any trouble with the mirror.

While i agree with @wmhazzard on the modeling practices, i do understand that starting over is not always possible. You'll need to clean some faces up and validate the bodies.

I was able to get it to mirror but i had to do some drastic changes.

image.pngThese were my steps (note not all should be required but this is YOUR model and you make THAT call not me)

  • Disable design history
  • Split body where the square box part hits the generative like parts
  • Remove null faces and edges
  • Validate bodies
  • Mirror
  • Combine

It is attached to this post.

Note your design history is full of warnings of missing geometry and projections - this is not a good thing for trying any major functions like mirror.

You received a very similar answer to the ones provided by @wmhazzard and @ryan.bales in the German forum.

What makes you feel that you get a different response here?

The problem is not the software but your lack of ability to use it properly!
