Measure tool's precision function has stopped working.

I usually have general precision set to four decimal places, but I really like the feature in 'Measure' that allows you to select greater precision when measuring a distance. But as of today the precision selection seems to do nothing, you have to go back into 'Unit and Value Display' in preferences if you want to view greater precision.

Am I missing something obvious?

Many thanks,

George

Can you post a screenshot or video? I'm finding that it's working as expected.

One thing that happens with measure, it removes trailing zeroes. In these images you can see where it shows both the full decimal precision, as well as values that have the trailing zeroes removed. Is it possible this is what you are seeing?

Thanks,

The Precision setting on the Measure Dialog does not seem to work.  You have to go to Preferences and set the desire precision for your measurements.  I sent a note to @jeff_strater about this earlier.

Thanks so much for you reply, Phil.

If you could take a look at this video, I made an box and measured the diagonal which has no trailing zeros.

The precision drop down still seems to have no effect, even when I change the general precision.

I've tried switching between mm and inches, still doesn't work.

I even reinstalled Fusion. The same measuring issue is present on my desktop and laptop.

Feel like I am missing a checkbox somewhere!

Thanks for your help

So it's not just me? It was working fine yesterday.

George,

It is not you.  I reported this bug on Sunday https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-support/bug-report-measure-dialog-does-not-display-correct...

Now, the Precision drop down has NO effect on the number of digits displayed.  I am a big user of this feature. I set my general units precision to .xxx under preferences, and when I wanted more I changed the precision in the Measure Dialog. Then Saturday/Sunday, I noticed it was not working.

Interestingly enough, if you turn on "Secondary Units", they WILL display with the correct precision.  See attached screen captures.

Thanks for your time Andy, that's good to know.

I did think I was going mad for a minute 😉

it looks like this bug has been fixed in our internal builds, but we are verifying the fix.  It should be fixed in an upcoming release, though I am not certain of exactly which update.  Thanks for your patience.

Can I just say this for the people that need this feature:

It still works for the secondary unit you select. That means that when working with mm it's very easy --> set the tolerance to one more decimal than you need and select cm as your secondary unit.

Not efficient but it will work around the problem for you.

Hi again. This week Fusion 360 had a major update to build 2.0.8749. This issue should be fixed in this latest update. Please update Fusion and let me know if you still find the same problem.

Verifying build number:

  • Help > About
  • Look for a number like "2.0.8XXX" in the about box.
  • Current build is 2.0.8749

Updating Fusion 360:

  1. Start or restart Fusion
  2. Look at the Job status icon (the small clock in the top bar)
  3. If an update is downloading a small 1 appears on the clock.
  4. Click to see progress and restart message when it's done.
