When orbiting, panning, zooming only using the mouse shortcuts (shift + mouse) or the view cube, the whole experience is laggy, but doing the same things, from the dedicated view tab in the bottom, is buttery smooth. Why is that so? Am I missing an option toggle or is this intended ?

Sorry if this is obvious, I'm a bit new here.

I'm guessing these access points for orbiting all have different visual effects/performance settings attached to them, because the difference is not noticeable on higher end and/or low DPI hardware.

I'll ask around and see if I can get some more specific details, as well as inquire if we can unify these experiences.

From monitoring my machine's performance statistics, I can confirm that using dedicated view tab tools will use significantly more resources as opposed to very little resources with the shortcuts. So the shortcuts and the cube work on balanced/power saving mode it seems?

It's usually just a matter of one having more visual effects enabled than the other. We are investigating how we might improve the performance to be more consistent across these different access points.
