Layout Grid and View settings reset to default each launch

Recently, every time I launch Fusion 360 the layout grid is set to off and the viewport is set to Ortho, even though I enabled the grid and change the view to Perspective with Ortho Faces each time. Its resetting these settings every time I close and then relaunch the app.

This is happening on both my windows desktop pc and my macbook pro (so 2 different operating systems) but it feels like it may have started doing this after not using it on the mac for some time and then briefly using it a few days ago.

I've had this happen once before with no idea why but it cleared up on its own after a while, this time it seems stuck doing it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi,

Just asking some questions here to help understand the issue, since this is not widely reported there may be something unique you are doing/finding that we need to investigate further.

  • Shutting down Fusion 360: Do you log out when you close the application?
  • Does it happen also on the mac you recently used?

Thanks,

Hi

No I don't log out of my account, I just close the software.

I just double checked and the following behaviour is exactly the same on both the windows pc (windows 10) and the macbook pro (current version of osx):

Open Fusion 360, grid is off, view is set to Orthographic, Data Panel is open.

I change the view to Perspective with Ortho views, I set the grid to ON, I close the data panel.

I close Fusion 360 and relaunch it.

Grid is now off again, view is set back to Orthographic, Data Panel is open again.

Thanks.

James.

The data panel is not something that obeys open/closed logic.

But the other settings should stick.

How long do you use Fusion before restarting? There is a 30 second to 1 minute timer before preference changes are sent to the cloud.

Sorry for the delay in replying.

So, prior to your last reply I had used Fusion for several multi-hour sessions since the settings issue, but before I replied with that I decided to try simply keeping fusion open for a few minutes to make sure it had sent the settings to the server as you mentioned... and it did indeed save the settings.

So... kinda baffled, I never turn the grid off myself so it being off in the first place was an issue (since this happened out of my control) and I definitely had the software open for long periods of time working on parts and still had it not save.

But it's working now so I dunno; as I said, I've had this happen once before and it seemed to solve it's self then too.

I do still feel that the issue may be related to using my account on both a mac and a windows pc (perhaps versions being out of sync?).
