I have tried to replicate your process but I cannot get an component to disappear.  A YouTube video is extremely hard to diagnose from since it does not record your keystrokes.  I also cannot definitely determine the location you are clicking to create your new sketch.  If you could use Screencast and be very deliberate in each step of your process maybe someone can see an issue.

By the way, please do not create a duplicate post, you can attach your model to a reply in the original Forum post.

From the way this highlights it looks like you selected another sketch rather than the plane you're trying to select. The sketch is probably earlier in the timeline so some features are removed.

Yes, looking closer you can see you've selected just off the plane here and there are 9 components, number 9 active.

After the selection component 8 is activated and this will be the one containing the sketch you selected by mitake.

I didn't see your attached model before but now I can see the problem. The plane you're trying to select is behind the model and behind a visible sketch so you can't select it easily. If you turn the model over or click and hold you can select the plane.
