Joint Problem

Joint shows properly when applied. Upon accepting (OK) the joint flips and loses one of the selections

Thanks for posting! It looks like a joint is previewing correctly for you but then flipping and losing selections when it is accepted.

 

Would you mind sharing the design in which you are seeing this behavior with me? I am happy to have a look. It may also help if you could create a screencast or provide screenshots showing the joint you are referring to.

Thanks for the link! I took a look this afternoon and was able to get the assembly put together. I did recreate the issue with the flipping joint - this is clearly an error, but I think it is being triggered by a number of factors. I would recommend giving this video a watch - it contains some assembly modeling best practices that should help avoid this type of behavior in future Fusion assemblies. The video contains advice on grounding components and some ideas on assembly structuring that I think may be particularly helpful.

 

With that said, I did find a method which which I could fix your current design fairly easily. One thing that did need to be changed was the hole spacing on the PCB component. In the End Cap component, the holes have a center to center spacing of 2.3", but the holes on the PCB are 2.5" center to center. I moved the holes on the base both 0.1" outwards (away from the center of the board) to resolve this error by using the Move command to move the faces of the holes.

 

After doing so, I removed the joints in the original assembly file and redid them, which assembled the model correctly. I've shown this in the screencast below. Please let me know if you have any questions. My file is at this link if you'd like to have a look - I did notice that I had to run a Compute All command (under the Modify menu) before saving the design to keep it working properly when reopened - this is likely a residual issue and it did not occur after I ran the Compute All and saved a new version of the assembly file.

I have the same problem.  Every time create a joint it previews correctly, then when i hit ok it bounces around like crazy and then aligns to some other side and has all off these missing joint components and errors.  It is incredibly frustrating! Maybe you guys need to just look at how Solidworks does this or something. At least there I can lock down one degree of freedom at a time.  That is really time consuming but at least possible.  This is like banging your head against the wall.

I would like to see that (in your own thread).., perhaps a screencast with a question or two?

a generic comment, that does not accord with the solution accepted in this thread, is misleading.

Sorry about this, it was just a strange glitch. I made a small change to the geometry and everything started working fine. I'm relatively new to Fusion so I don't always know what is a glitch and what is a designed user experience.
