The texture rendering in Fusion 360 is ok but I wanted to upgrade to a dedicated texturing program like the Adobe

Substance 3d software programs: Designer, Painter, Sampler etc... that are used for adding texture to mesh files made in Blender or Maya. I don't have Blender or Maya. I only have Fusion 360.

The Adobe help reps don't even know what Fusion 360 is. The few videos I found on youtube showed that when you import a Fusion 360 file into Adobe 3D Painter the model is oriented wrong and other problems. You have to import the Fusion model into Maya or Blender to fix the problems before putting the file back into Adobe 3D Painter.

Is there any fairly easy way to import Fusion 360 .fbx or .obj files into the Adobe texturing software programs to add textures to a model.?

Thanks,

The workflow would be to first Export your Fusion design as either FBX or OBJ.  You probably cannot import a Fusion design directly, but if you export as something that Adobe can read, you can import that.

Thanks for writing. The 2 youtube videos I saw did say you could import .fbx or .obj files of 3D models made in Fusion 360 into Adobe Substance 3D Painter. But, the orientation of the 3D model was wrong, other things about the model were messed up so the model had to be put in in Blender or Maya first to correct those problems. I don't want to buy Adobe 3D Substance Painter and find out I then have to get Blender or Maya also. I may download the 7 free day free trial of Substance 3D Painter and try it but 7 days isn't long to figure out complex problems. None of the Adobe tutorial videos even mention Fusion 360 and the Adobe tech rep on the phone had never heard of it. The Adobe videos only talk about importing 3D models made in Blender or Maya.
Thanks again,

Adobe Substance painter only deals with meshes. As such you would be well advised to learn a polygon/Sub-D modeling Software. Blender is FOSS (Free Open Source Software) and re-orienting a model is very easy, even for complete beginners. There are loads of excellent tutorials available for Blender.

##-Thanks for writing. I have been looking at Blender but I haven't downloaded it yet. Please tell me what the file extension is for a mesh file. I thought files with .obj and .fbx file suffixes were mesh files. Am I wrong about that?

Correct! .obj and .fbx are mesh file formats.

That was my point. If you work with meshes, then use software that was specifically written too work with meshes.

Thanks for writing. I turned a Fusion 360 3d model into a mesh and gave it a .obj suffix. I imported that into a texturing program called Quixel Mixer. I got an error message saying the file was not UV unwrapped. There are no videos or documentation on Fusion 360 having any UV unwrapping capability. So, it looks like I have to learn Blender which has UV unwrapping. At least Blender is free.
