Is projecting or dimensioning computationally faster?

I've been working on a few designs that have become quite large and my system is starting to drastically slow. (It's older hardware so to be expected) But this got me wondering.

Is it easier(computationally faster) for the computer to get a projection from another sketch, or to compute the point with user parameters from a known point (origin)?

I rely heavily on the user parameters for my designs as the sizing of base stock and whatnot is constantly changing, so it is possible to have very few projected relationships, but projecting is much more user friendly.

Just a thought.
