Intermittent issue placing primitives

Hi All,

I've noticed a strange behaviour since recent updates that quite frequently primitive bodies (i.e. create -> box or cylinder) fail to generate a solid body, gets stuck in a loop of awaiting for the user to specify a face/plane and I can't complete the operation. It usually happens in the following sequence:

1. Create -> Box

2. select plane/face

3. draw profile via 2 point rectangle

4. instead of generating the body and prompting box height, the dialog prompts for face/plane placement again:

Dialog prompts for placement instead of box heightDialog prompts for placement instead of box height

5. If I follow the prompt and select the face again, the height textbox then appears, but no matter what I type in, no solids are generated, length & width become 0, and the "OK" button is greyed out no matter which values I change (length & width also stay red even if I change the number).

After specifying placement for a second time, height can be input but no solids appearAfter specifying placement for a second time, height can be input but no solids appear

If I cancel and keep trying over and over eventually it will work. But it's really frustrating and I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this or has a fix for it? Thanks

Hi,

Please see attached for the file I'm working on. The issue has been noted to occur frequently on the "Pan Base" component:

Thank you

Hi All,

Are there no solutions to this or am I missing something? Cheers

I can't reproduce your error.

I start the tool, select the face to attach to,

click to start the box and rubberband to click again,

fusion creates the solid with default height and arrow to adjust.

Ok box is waiting, and works as expected.

Your file is in Direct Modelling mode, did not check with timeline....

Might help....

Hi,

Thanks for giving it a go. I'm only intending to model in direct modelling mode for this file, but turned on capture design history to try it too and It's still happening. Tried reinstalling twice now. The annoying thing is that it happens intermittently (about 50% of the time) and I can't figure out what triggers the bug. A few more observations:

  • The bug seems to sometimes but not always happen in "clusters" in the sense that when it happens, it'll likely happen 3~5 times in a row, then stop occurring for a while.
  • It seems to happen more frequently (again not always) when the profile isn't completely on a solid face, i.e. parts or all of the box is drawn over empty space.
  • It happens to cylinder primitives too. But when it does, I can select the circle I just drew (like selecting a sketch profile) and the solid gets created then the rest of the operation works as expected.
  • If I try to do the above when creating boxes, Fusion only lets me select one of the sides. The default height text box and drag handle appears which I can manipulate, but still no solids generated and OK button still greyed out:
