Insert canvas image keeps disappearing

If I use insert canvas to insert an image so I can then trace it using a sketch, the image sometimes appears, and other times there is just the border of the image shown as a thin red line.

If I insert the image and it appears, I can use it, but if I save the drawing, or the computer goes into standby, the image disappears and only the red border is showing.

Is this a bug or do I need to do something to make the image visible again as it is rather annoying

I have added a Canvas into my model and both saved it, put the computer into hibernation and sleep without issue. I would give your video drivers a look see.
