Incorrect dimension in Sketch Environment

Hi guys

I have noticed an error when I am sketching and putting dimensions the features, see below:

This is happening when I use Snap To Grid function, the system doesn't round up the reading and it leads to misalignment in assemblies and errors when using patterns to copy the features (faces). Of course, it doesn't happen when it's a free move, without snapping to grid. Snap to grid saves a lot of time in modeling.

Can you please take a look at this issue?

Hi @Anonymous ,

 

What sort of issues is this causing? I'm curious because my guess this is a precision error in snapping, but it is precise to 6 decimal places which is extremely precise. I couldn't imagine this causing misalignment, but am very curious to see. 

 

For instance, if you turn your general precision settings down from 6 decimal places, to 3 or 4 for instance, does it still show the error?

If I drop down to 3 digits it looks fine but when I measure two parts that are flush I get a difference of 0.00001mm or so.

I know it's not significant but is screws up assemblies sometimes.....

Even when I use a mirror command in Sketch, the reading is with floating number always, unless I enter manually.

Hi @Anonymous ,

 

Let me verify with the team, but I've seen this popped up multiple times with the past and I truly believe it is just that the commands cannot more precise (.000001mm tolerance is on the nanometer scale). Again, entering manually ensures this, but I am more curious to see how this is screwing up an assembly. A 1E-6 mm tolerance on an assembly seems quite reasonable. Not trying to dispute that an error may occur - I just want to see how.
