How to use a part to cut a profile into another part along a path

I am trying to do a simple project, see attached screenshot, where I use a ball connected to a shaft to cut out a path inside a cube. In the picture I would like to take a body / component place it at the start of the path to be cut, then place the same component/body (tool) at the final location of the path and then execute a command like combine to cut a profile into the cube between the two positions in the shape of the tool.

Sweep would be ideal but it does not seem to work with bodies or components.

How could this be done?

Thank you

here is a relevant thread:  sweep-with-solid-body .  There are multiple approaches.  Some are more case-specific, some are more general.  For a ball along a 2D path, you can get away with just a sweep plus a couple of cuts for the ends.  For a more complex cutter geometry, there are other ways, but they are more complex.

I'm not sure about the problem here but, I think you need to see Combine command for this. Might help.
