How to cut intersecting lines when machining

Hello, I am having issues when trying to cut over the top of other lines when I get to the machining stage. 

I have intersecting lines that wont cut properly or at all. I tried drawing a cross out of two seperate lines and then wen to do a simulation cut instead of cutting both lines independatly, the system cut until reaching the interseciton, turned 90 degrees and then proceeded on the other line just cutting a right angle instead of the full cross. 

This seems like a silly issue, but I have run myself ragged when trying to find the solution.
