How to 3d sketch from 2 2d sketches

Ive used this in solidworks and creo but is there a way to combine 2 sketches in different planes to result in a 3d sketch?

i want the surface (yz plane) to curve along the sketch on the bottom (xy plane)

I think Intersection Curve might be what you are after:

if i have a sketch with more than 1 component, how do i handle that in the selection box?

each sketch has a straight line and a spline tangent. can i combine these to create one continuous curve?

that is a current limitation of Intersection curve.  There would be nothing preventing it, but that is just the way it is implemented.  The other way to do this (and what is actually going on behind the scenes in Intersection Curve), is to surface Extrude both sets of curves, use surface Trim, then Include 3D Geometry to create the intersection curve:

Experiment with 2 Extrudes, New Body then Intersect.  Not as finicky as 

Sheetmetal Unfold - Modelling ops - Refold.
