How do I copy construction planes and be able to edit them individually?

And he copies the construction plane by selecting it, moving it, ticking the copy box and it works. But when I do it, it doesn't work unless I tick that circle nex to my project name. But if I do that, then I can't edit the construction planes (change their size) individually. Chaning one's side changes all their sizes. How do I only edit one?

Are you actually following him, or including your own mods as you go?

You have a timeline, where is his?

You have copied the construction plane as a Component, he uses Body.  He can modify individual bodies, but you would have to use a Copy / Paste New for that function.

You do realize the YouTube person is in the Form Environment when he is creating and Move/Copy the construction planes.  He is not in the Solid Environment.

Please create a Screencast to demo the moving/copying a Construction Plane in the Solid Environment.  I need to learn how also.

Change Environment I was in Solid.

Offset plane must go into current Component.  Probably wouldn't work in the top level.

Select the plane as a body - surprised me to.

I tried what you say but no.  I can get it to work perfectly if the Construction Plane is created and Move/Copy in the Form Environment.  Please create a Screencast showing what you do to make it work in the Solid Environment or a VERY detailed step by step process.

You can only copy/move work planes if you are in direct modeling.  That can either be:

• in a Direct Modeling design
• or in a Direct Modeling mode:
  • Base Feature mode
  • Form mode

In a parametric design, Move/Copy is not permitted

Thanks for clearing that up.  It does seem to work if you move into the Form Environment and create the construction plane.  You can Move/Copy them there but they must be created in the Form Environment.  Is the Form Environment considered something like Direct Modeling?  You do not get any entries in your timeline while in Forms so I guess it must be.

I don't normally use the Direct Modelling, but such a file open (restructure sub assembly file)

for the demo in my pics, (for no reason other than testing for myself, and didn't realise there's a but)

I have confirmed here what both of you say, doesn't work with the timeline files, and not being a parametric option, would not likely start down that rabbit hole.
