Help with gravity simulation

Hi I am fairly new to fusion and I need to know if my design will work effectively. I have a tic tac I need to slide down a chute into a cup, however my simulation always fails and I am not sure why no matter what I change.

Any help would be appreciated.Screenshot 2025-02-23 at 16.30.49.pnghttps://a360.co/4ievhuN

@jh2165

I have been away from Fusion for a year, so I might be wrong, but I don't think you can do that analysis in Fusion.

You could however do it in Autodesk Inventor Professional - Dynamic Simulation (free to students).

You need a Spatial Joint for the tic-tac to give it 6 degrees of freedom.

A grounded Joint for the track and the pot.

And then 3D Contact Joints between the tic-tac and the track and between the tic-tac and the catch pot.

Finally, add the Gravity Joint.

I had my students do a similar exercise for many years before I retired.

Edit: I notice many unresolved issues highlighted in red and yellow in your Timeline (run the command Ctrl b or CMD b on Mac).

I would fix any unresolved issues before attempting to run any analysis.

Inventor is definitely looking like the way to go, however I am completely new to it. I am very lost on where and how to assign these joints. Is there any good example/ tutorial that covers all of these joint types and how to apply them?

Thanks again for this that does seem like it would work!
