help please with lofting fit point splines

I am trying to loft a fit point spline. The spline/profile only lofts when the interior is light blue.

I assume this means it is a closed loop profile. If I do any adjustment out of plane accidentally (ie. move a control point in the z direction)  I lose the blue interior of the profile (spline) and it will not loft like bellow:

Is there a way to get the blue interior back so the shape will loft? I can get the blue interior back by moving all to the sketch plane but then I have to move it back to my construction plane which is really hard for me. Any insights would be so appreciated.

Window select the spline with all its points, then right click and select move to Sketch Plane from the menu.

Hi,

Sketches are normally placed on its own plane at height =0.
If you do not want the sketch there, but at height=50, for example, first create an offset plane with a distance of 50 and place it there.

Please share the file for reply.

You guys are awesome thanks for the help. Here is my problem and why I dont want to move the profiles:

I am trying to make the middle profile longer to change the shape of the lofted solid.  As soon as I move any control point now the control fit spline profile shape will not loft.  How can I do this without moving it to a sketch plane and then back up into position? I try to move the control points withing the sketch plane but somehow cant even do that.

Without checking the file,

When you lose the blue shading, means that sketch is now a 3d sketch.  To move a spline point in a 3d sketch, you have to use the Move Tool.  (Click drag no longer works after the blue shading is lost)

Create a plane for each profile, don't try creating everything in one sketch. You can use project intersection to create a point where the rails intersect with the planes so the cross sections match the rails.

Yes, I thought of that and only 3 D move it in the 2d direction of the sketch plane but still doesn't work...is there a way to only make movements in the shape's sketch plane only so that the shape stays 2d???

You move the whole sketch by Edit Feature, if it is an offset plane change the distance.

If Moving the Profile, boundary curves and shading, use Move Tool, if the constraints allow it, use the Point to Point method or Move Tool handles.

If that works the points used for rails should update automatically.

Do you have a picture of the shape or similar you are trying to create?

Oops, scratch that. I did not see the mesh in the model until now 😉

I've asked for a picture of the thing you are trying to re-create, and then saw the 3D scan in the file and scratched the request.

However, I have reconsidered! Please post a few images of what that object is, perhaps in context, so we can see how and what it is used for.
