Fusion360 crashes before launch (MacOS)

Fusion was running fine until a recent .brd upload failed to generate an Electronics design (XML manifest file error).

Now I cannot get the application to open from my applications or by the shell. When I call the shell executable "Autodesk Fusion 360" inside the unpacked application, it prints the following error to the terminal.

The application cannot be opened for an unexpected reason, error=Error Domain=RBSRequestErrorDomain Code=5 "Launch failed." UserInfo={NSLocalizedFailureReason=Launch failed., NSUnderlyingError=0x600003fb07e0 {Error Domain=NSPOSIXErrorDomain Code=111 "Unknown error: 111" UserInfo={NSLocalizedDescription=Launchd job spawn failed}}}

@nicholas_mol Can you please go into launch pad and find the Fusion 360 service utility and then run a repair Fusion 360 from there to see if that fixes this issue?

Thank you for the quick reply, I cannot launch the service utility either. The following error code pops up in terminal.

exec: /Users/nicholas/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/webdeploy/production/29052a16d01271aec3af412bcbb43ce54459adfb/Autodesk Fusion 360.app/Contents/MacOS/Autodesk Fusion 360: cannot execute: No such file or directory

Seems the failed .brd file upload deleted some core Fusion360 components?

@nicholas_mol Can you run the uninstall then and do a fresh install of Fusion 360?

Re-installing Fusion 360 has the program running again, however, the moment I try the .brd file import/upload it causes Fusion 360 to crash again. This time I was able to capture the error messgae

@nicholas_mol Does the program now not launch again? Will you be able to share this design here or you can end it over to an email ID so that we can see what is happening?

Unfortunately, I cannot share the files. I was able to get the fusion360 running again by selecting to not create an Electronics design while importing the .brd files. I tried creating an Electronics Design after the fact and reference the schematic and PCB later, however, they are grossly out of sync and there are too many components to associate names: I am leaving them as separate files. Opening up the eagle files in KICAD, I see that the linkage is there, so it must be something wrong with the Fusion360 .brd/Eagle import.

Glad you are able to run Fusion 360 but without the file it may be very difficult to predict what could have happens and be happening. If this is something you can share even on a private conversation with our support team or in an email directly to me please do let me know.

Hi @nicholas_mol

I hope you are doin well!
I am Panpan from Fusion 360 Electronics QA team.

Sorry to hear that you have problem when you upload .brd file.

It would be great if you can help to confirm several questions.

Q1: How do you upload .brd file?

I try the general workflow and it works well for me.

Click Upload icon in the Data Panel -> Select single .brd file from local -> Check or uncheck Create Electronic Checkbox -> OK

If you have any different steps, please let me know.

Q2: Does this issue happen for other .brd file? If you try to upload other simple file, is it OK?

Q3: If you just click 'File -> Open' and select the brd file from local path, and then click save. Does it work well for you ? Or may be you can just create an Electroncis Design and reference brd file from local.

And if you send the crash report to us when you meet the crash, it would be great if you can send us you email address. We can check in the CER system to get more information about the crash.

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Panpan Fan
