Hello,
I am facing a critical, project-stopping bug that has appeared within the last few days, following the most recent Fusion 360 updates (one today, and one a few days ago).
The Core Problem: Every single view, across all sheets in my drawing files, is losing its reference and turning into a red box. This happens immediately after I make any change to the source 3D model and the drawing relinks to the new version.
This is not an issue of one or two broken links; it is a total and catastrophic failure of the link between the design and the drawing.
Key Complications & Details:
Triggered by Any Change: This isn't caused by a major geometry change. I've confirmed that simply adding a new "Named View" to the design file (a change that affects no existing geometry or drawing references) and saving it is enough to trigger this bug. When the drawing updates to this new version, every view breaks.
System: Windows 10: I am running Windows 10. When I attempt to use the in-app Autodesk Assistant to get help or contact support, it informs me that technical support is no longer provided for Windows 10 and stops me from proceeding. This leaves me completely unable to submit a formal bug report or get direct help.
"Promote Version" Fails: Based on a suggestion, I tried to roll back my design file to a previously known-good version (e.g., Version 31, which I knew worked perfectly). I right-clicked v31 in the data panel and used "Save as Latest." Even after promoting this stable, older version to be the new "latest" (Version 33), the drawing still broke and showed all red boxes upon relinking. This seems to prove the issue is not with my design file, but with the linking mechanism itself.
"Edit View" Fails: Once a view becomes a red box, I cannot fix it. Clicking "Edit View" and changing the orientation (e.g., from Northeast Isometric to Southeast Isometric) and closing the dialog does nothing. The red box remains.
Troubleshooting Already Attempted (No Success):
Restarting Fusion 360
Restarting the computer
Clearing the cache (deleted multiple times)
Manually trying to "jiggle" the view settings via "Edit View"
Promoting a known-good older version of the design file using "Save as Latest"
Summary: As of the latest updates, my drawings are unusable. I have many sheets and views, and manually re-creating them is not an option, especially if any subsequent design change will just break them all again. I am completely blocked from producing updated drawings for my designs.
My Questions for the Community:
Is anyone else experiencing this specific "red box" behavior after the latest updates, particularly on Windows 10?
Is this a known bug that the development team is aware of?
Is there any workaround (other than upgrading to Windows 11, which is not an immediate option) to re-establish the drawing references?
Thank you for any help you can provide. This has brought all production work to a halt.
