Fusion 360 updates reset all preferences and settings

It seems like every other time I update Fusion, I open it back up to see all my preferences are gone. Default units, grid and snap, UI controls, everything. This has happened on multiple accounts (work and personal) - does anyone know if there is a reason/fix, and is this happening to anyone else?

I was chatting with @Phil.E about this a few weeks ago. I 'think' it only occurs if you reinstall? Unless the cloud synchronization hasn't occurred.

We are aware of a bug (and working on a fix) for this situation: two users logging into Fusion on one machine will confuse preferences.

Are there more than one user on your machines/accounts? How many accounts do you access on any one machine?

What you describe is not a common user activity (multiple accounts and machines). Please describe a little more about this to help me get a clear picture. It sounds like something we can reproduce with the right steps to follow. That will lead us to a better fix sooner and help me test the fix for the bug I mentioned above.

I regularly switch between my personal and work account on my laptop, maybe a few times a week. The work account is sometimes used on my desktop there, as well as some other PCs on occasion - but both accounts have experienced the wiping of settings and preferences, usually at the same time.

Thanks. That sounds a lot like what we are working on. Sorry for the trouble. If all goes well in testing, we hope to release the fix asap. It's too early to promise anything at this point.

I understand, thanks for the response!

Side note - is there any way to export my preferences as a workaround? That way if things get reset I have a saved file with all my preferences on my PC I can upload

There is a problem when Fusion is started and you are not yet logged in. Fusion has started but does not yet know who you are, and does not have your preferences yet.

When you start Fusion and log in, and then discover your preferences, toolbars, or shortcuts are reset:

1. Immediately shut down Fusion 360 and do not log out.

2. Restart Fusion 360.

The result of step 2 is that Fusion will start, and it already knows who you are, so it will get your cloud preferences and use them as it's opening.

Sorry for the trouble. We are still working on a fix for this issue. Please let me know if the steps above solve your problem.
