Fusion 360 install issues

Hi,

I'm Michael from Spring TX, and began using ACAD V 2.5 in 1986 and using the different versions through now. I am an enthusiast creating parts mechanical, electromechanical and electronic.

Recently I was shown Fusion 360 and am interested in trying it out, so I downloaded it onto a Sony Vaio laptop from 2010 that has the OS Windows 7 with SP1.

I've run into the problem where Fusion 360 tries to start up after the install and reports the following failure message:

"Failed to execute "<my installation directorypathname for> Fusion360.exe"

"Returned error: 0x000000c1" Please uninstall Fusion360 and reinstall; if this does not correct the problem please contact Autodesk for technical assistance."      I tried clicking your Chat button but the webpage showed a message line that said Chat was not in service on December 26, so I looked online for blogs about this error and several folks had posted they had the problem but I didn't see other actions that solved it.

I did uninstall, and reinstall Fusion360, but the same failure to startup Fusion360 occurs. So I installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 with SP1, however the very same problem still is occuring. I met a Microsoft technical expert yesterday at the Microsoft store and he said that I had taken his advised step installing the fresh copy of Windows 7 with SP1 and all the Windows updates.

Can you advise me what to do to eliminate the "Failed to execute "<my installation directorypathname for> Fusion360.exe"

"Returned error: 0x000000c1"    ?   I look forward to having it startup and trying it out Fusion360.

Thanks for any help you can give,

Michael

Hi Michael,

I won’t be much (any) help with Windows install issues, but there are suggestions for finding log files in this thread.

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/design-validate-document/fusion-360-install-problems/m-p/5436774/highl...

The forum is very active, but giving your post a descriptive title like “Windows 7 install problem” will probably generate a quicker response from those who can help.  Graphics cards are a common source of issues, so specifying what you have installed and the drivers may be helpful.

Welcome! Hope you get going soon.

Thanks for posting and sorry to hear about the troubles. I've seen a similar error message reported before, but it appears to be different then this issue.

If you've installed a fresh copy of Windows 7, I think we can safely assume that there are no lingering start-up icons from an old version around. 🙂

I do have a couple of suggestions that may help:

  • Try right clicking on the start-up icon and selecting the Run As Administrator option
  • Try browsing to the isntallation location %LOCALAPPDATA%\Autodesk\webdeply\production\ and searching for Fusion360.exe. Are you able to launch the application by executable directly?
  • Do you have any anti-virus software that could be interferring with the launch of the application? Try temporarily disabling it.
  • You could test temporarily lowering the User Account Control Settings to the Never Notify level to see if that has any impact.

I hope these suggestions help. Please keep us updated on your progress or if you have any questions!

Thanks,
