Fusion 360 hanging when moving imported step files in an assembly

Hello All,

I have imported a STEP file produced in Altium Designer of a reasonably simple PCB but which still contains a lot of bodies (4568 Unstiched + 121 Bodies). I have added this new fusion component into a simple assembly. When I try to move the imported PCB (called PowerBoard) the interface is very slugish).

The shared link is here: https://a360.co/2Itgm2C

I assume it is slow as Fusion has to move a very large number of bodies. However, if I pan/ rotate or movie the view in 3D space the performance is great. It only effects moving this particular component.

As I regularly integrate Electronics/ PCB from Altium Designer into my mechanical designs I would like to improve this performance significantly. Any help in doing this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Graeme

Someone else asked a similar question yesterday and what I found was moving bodies was fast, I had a design with about 100 bodies. If I selected the same model as faces, about 1000 it was very slow so all your unstitched faces might be the problem.

Can you switch to the patch workspace and stitch the faces into closed bodies. It's odd you have unstitched bodies from a stp file useually they are stitched, can the exporting program export as stitched bodies?

Hi,

Thanks for the help. I managed to finally stitch together all the relevant parts to make it work. It has dramatically improved performance.

Cheers

Graeme
