Fusion 360 crashes whenever I open a file

Anonymous

Hi,

I was working on a design that was opening perfectly yesterday. However, today, when I went to resume my work, Fusion 360 would not open and immediately crash, asking me to fill out an error report. This only happens with this one file, and I am not sure why. Any ideas on what it can be?

I spent so long on this part (over 75 hours), and now it seems that I will have to redo everything again!!!!! I am really unhappy and was wondering if anyone has had the same issue or knows how to fix it?

EDIT: I have attached my file that isn't opening

@Anonymous Sorry that you are having this experience and thank you for sharing your data. We will look into this immediately.

Can you go to the panel and look for the versions of this file? Can you try to open a previously saved version from yesterday and see if that works? You can promote a working version to be the latest (yes you will lose the work that was done from that point on). I understand that this might not get back everything but at least to a point where you can continue working.

@RajkumarIlanchelian AMAZING!!!!! Thank you so much Rajkumar!!! I lost the last 2/3 hours of work by reverting to the previous version of the file but that's absolutely fine. I was so devastated that I would have to start again. Thank you so so so so much. I would hug you right now if I could haha. Really, thankyou!!!! I really appreciate it 🙂

in the spirit of social distancing lets do a emoji hi-fi 🙌  😀

We will look into why the file is not opening in the first place. I understand that losing any work in the first place is not a good place to be in.

one ask is that it is possible that something you did in terms of a feature edit etc may have put you in this situation and quite possible you may hit it again.  I ask specifically this time that you did a few more saves that you would normally do until we identify what caused this issue.

@RajkumarIlanchelian Haha definitely!!! 🙌

Yep sounds good, I will save more often! I am not sure if this helps, but I was taking a look through the log files, and before the termination, there was this line:

T-Spline Bug Alert: This indicates out-of-sync state of TSpline surface. Critical issue, please report it to 'Fusion Sculpt Team'

So maybe yeah it is something to do with a feature edit I performed

Thanks for adding that information. I have already confirmed from the crash reports that it has something to do with t-splines. We will look into this further.

@Anonymous This defect has been fixed in September 15 Update (V.2.0.8947).
Prior to the September Update, the Break Link command sometimes corrupted T-Spline bodies and caused a crash during either edit or file open.
Thank you for posting a data set above. It really helped us investigate the issue.

I am currently unable to open any file without fusion closing.  Is there something more to this that I can check?

@Anonymous Does Fusion present a crash report or a crash report ID etc? Are you on a Mac or Windows? Are you able to create a simple new design and save it/close it/re-open it without issues?

On the hardware side, can you logout/close Fusion/ Restart machine/log back in to see if that makes any difference? This kind of issue could also be pending updates like graphics or Windows 10 update etc. Can you check to see if there are any pending updates? Did you take any updates in the last day or so?

The above are areas I would start to looking into what the problem could be.

I am on Windows.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Fusion on my computer.  I have also tried a second computer and have the same issue.

I have also tried downloading all windows updates and then trying again.  Same result.  Prior to that I had not installed any updates on either PC.

This invite will not help since you have basic access. this means that I cannot look into your project (or the content in your project).

In your Fusion can you go to Help - > Diagnostic and support -> diagnostic log files and attach the zip file that is generated in here?

Also are you working on manufacturing data?

Here are the logs.  I don't understand what you mean by manufacturing data.

Manufacturing data as in CAM. Do you use the Manufacturing workspace?

Also thanks for the logs. The logs shows that there are certain documents that did open successfully for you? Are you facing the crash issue only on certain designs? Also I assume when it crashes it shuts down Fusion and you have to re-launch it? I am still looking at logs but there is evidence that at least one file opened for you so far (Example Assert-2****.F3d)

Yes I use the manufacturing workspace. I have been able to get a couple of files to open but if I change anything or try to switch to the manufacturing tab then the application shuts down. Yes I have to go back to the desktop icon and double click to relaunch fusion360.

Can you please export an f3d that shows this problem and post it here or if can’t share the data here please email it to me? I was to reproduce the crash by switching to the manufacturing space. Since your account is basic access I cannot see your content even though you invited me to your hub.

This one happens when I try to go from design workspace to manufacturing.
