Fusion 360 crash on Sonoma Mac Powerbook M1 just after install

Hi all.

I just installed Fusion 360 (personal edition) on my Mac Powerbook M1 2020, running an up to date Sonoma, and it crashes immediately after launch.

I tried Resetting it with the Service tool, unistalled, reinstalled and it still crashes. I tried installing in another user account (on same machine) but it still crashes on startup.

Any tips?

@mcapinhaGG2N8

1. Let's start with some of the Privacy and Security options. If you go to setting - privacy and Security - Files and folders - is Fusion 360 listed there with all the options checked?

2. When it crashes is there a crash report that comes up to submit to Autodesk? If so could you give a report ID?

3. Also, are you on multiple monitors? If so does disconnecting one help?

@RajkumarIlanchelian ,

1. I don't see Fusion 360 in "Files and Folders". However, I went into Full Disk Access, gave it permission and it still crashes.

2. I have an option to send a report to Apple? The Anonymous UID is 8F0AB945-749F-644F-D550-9A07C658DFA1

3. No. When the crash first happened I was connected to one remote monitor. I reinstalled one week later and it still crashed without being connected to an external monitor.

Thanks for looking into this 🙂

@mcapinhaGG2N8 @Let’s narrow this down based on your answers and see what could be happening.

1. Go to Launchpad- Fusion service utility- gather system info and attach the Fusion diagnostic zip file here

2. Any other Autodesk products installed?

@RajkumarIlanchelian ,

I just installed the Insider version of Fusion 360 and it still crashes.

1.On both versions, running Gather system info ends up with Force Quit for running out of memory (service utility using around 80Gb of memory).

2. No other Autodesk products installed on this Mac.

@mcapinhaGG2N8 Can you please manually collect the log per this article? https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-manually-co...

We will need install, application and service logs.

Hi @RajkumarIlanchelian ,

Here's the zip with all Installation and Application logs. There's no `Web Services` directory, so I couldn't get the Services log.

I redacted my username.

Hope this helps!

@mcapinhaGG2N8 Thank you for adding the log files. It's crashing even before we start adding any sort of logs to the file. The install file shows that Fusion did install good. Let's try the below:

1. Uninstall Fusion
2. Go to /Users/USER ID/Library/Application Support - You will see a folder called Autodesk - Delete the whole folder
3. Go to /Users/USER ID/Applications - In here you will find the launch short cuts - Delete it all
4. Empty Trash
5. Restart macine
6. install Fusion

Let us know if that helped!

Hi @RajkumarIlanchelian ,

I went through those steps but the result is the same and Fusion 360 still crashes immediately after launch.

I looked into the logs files and nothing is being written, apart from the very first line:

20231223T135237 I .16083 (total 0.091s diff 0.091s) PERF: startupTimer START.

I managed to get it up and running on an Intel based Mac powerbook, but still would like to have run on my main machine.

Any other suggestions?

@mcapinhaGG2N8 Replies are going to be slow for the next 3-4 days due to company holidays here. Will certainly look at other options we can explore and get his working on your main machine.
