Flat Pattern Issue

Hello F360 community,

I was wondering if you could help me troubleshoot an issue I was having; I am designing a sheet metal part at work and I am having an issue with the flat pattern not working. Usually my course of action for when a flat pattern fails is to first look for any major issues that might be preventing the flat pattern, assuming nothing is very apparent then I will check if the sheet metal component will unfold, typically this is where my problem is flagged and I then hunt for some miniscule issue that is preventing both the unfold and flat pattern feature from working and eventually solve the problem and all is well with the world. Today however, my sheet metal component is unfolding, yet the flat pattern will not work.

Specifically what happens is:

• I select the stationary face

• The page is empty

• A box in the bottom right appears that says with a yellow warning symbol: 1 warning(s) FlatPattern1  More Info

• I select More Info

• The dialogue box disappears

• I select review warning on the design history and it says compute failed

• I can then leave the flat pattern by choosing finish flat pattern, and then return to it, all the while it is a blank page

• Or, I can select undo and then redo and suddenly the part appears, the yellow warning symbol remains, but then if if I select finish flat pattern after the undo redo, there is no longer a warning symbol and all is right

I cannot explain why this is happening, the part in question does have some compound bends, but it was always made in sheet metal format, no converting was done. Reference geometry was used as a guide, not projected. I cannot explain this.

Kind regards,

Will

A lot of words - no file?

@WillGKDMN

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

If your data is proprietary then simply make up a dummy file that exhibits the same behavior.
