F360 Bug All lines black, sketch undefined, no points move

Sketch with all black lines showing as undefined. Happens to me regularly, have spent hours working systematically from top left hand corner to bottom right pulling on points and lines. Sometimes doing this will make the sketch black with no additional user input or constraints, sometimes it stays showing as not fully defined.

If this is a function of a point not being constrained, there MUST be a way of seeing the point that is not constrained. Solidworks simply leaves the whole line blue if a point on it is undefined, this is how it should be. Making the line black and leaving no obvious way to see what is not constrained is extremely frustrating.

In one of my jobs I am a teacher, and my students repeatedly have problems where their sketch is all black and there is some phantom point that is undefined. If you insist on being different than solidworks and making lines that are constrained to a given axis but have an undefined length black, please have the decency to make the undefined points appear blue.

Furthermore, if you write a post before selecting a board, then select F360 support board it wipes out the post you wrote. If you do not have persistence, do not let the user enter anything in yet. Though it is a minor frustration, I expected more from a company with 9,600+ employees that is biased primarily on web and software services.

Hi,

please share your design or a similar sketch.

A line is constrained when its position and direction is constrained.  A point is constrained when its position is constrained.  An example:

In this state, the direction of the line is constrained (vertical), but its position is not.  Neither point is constrained, so they are shown in white.  Next, constrain the line's position by adding a dimension to the origin:

line is now fully constrained (black), but both endpoints are still under constrained (white).  Add another dimension for the bottom point:

now that point is fully constrained, so it is drawn in black.  Add another dimension for the top point:

and that point is now fully constrained, and the entire sketch is fully constrained.

Uhmm, not exactly.

I feel your pain.  I had a similar experience a few days ago and lost half an hour of my time as a result.  Needless to say I was unimpressed.

Hi,

Please share the file for investigation.

File > export > save as f3d on local drive  > attach it to the next post.

Hi,

There are too many (superfluous) elements in the sketch that make it difficult to fully determine.
For example, semicircles are divided and double dimensions are used instead of relating lines vertically or horizontally.
In the screencast I show how it can be done.
