Extrude feature crashes F360 on imported STEP files.

hi all,

i need help, please.

When I try to Extrude a sketch in any imported STEP file, F360 crashes. Only with Extrude. (see video)

With my own designs, no problem, Extrude works fine.

I reinstalled again F360 yesterday, the problem is still there.

Autodesk should have tenths of Error Reports...

Thank you.

You made another post about this where you shared a model and other people had no problem with the same part, see here. I guess there's something about your setup that's causing the problem @jeff_strater  any ideas?

One thing I noticed in the screencast is you have some extended character set characters in your user name, I've seen a couple of strange bugs in the past with extended characters. Also how are you opening the step files, do you get the same problem using Upload and Open?

hi @HughesTooling and thank you for your reply.

Yes, I posted before, I'm really becoming crazy because I can't understand it.

STEP file...

- open- from browser. Crashed.

- open- from Data Panel > All Projects folder. Crashed.

- Upload file. Crashed.

If I open a step file and the very first thing is clicking the Extrude button, it crashes. (even before doing a sketch).

In regards of user name, "extended character set". Are you talking about "ñ" and "é"? I could change them (I think), but why/how they don't affect to my designs and they crashes with imported STEPs?

Thank you again.

It is a total guess, in the past there were a couple of strange bugs reported where those characters caused problems. In both cases users created a second user account on their PCs for testing and found without extended characters the bugs didn't show. Really just a stab in the dark, if you have time to set up another account on your computer give it a try.

One more thought, can you export one of the designs as an f3d and attach here so we can see an actual design you've created.

The .f3d file you provided does not cause any problems here. It opens fine and I can modify geometry without a problem.

thank you all for your help, @TrippyLighting , @HughesTooling

I did a new test, maybe it can help you to understand the origin of the problem.

I opened one of my own designs (not imported), and then, from the Data Panel I "Insert into current design" one of STEPs files.

In appearance, the 2nd part is like a new Component (cube icons) but it's not. The radio button to Activate Component in the tree is not there.

Then I Break Link of the new component et voila, Extrude feature works.

I think it is a poor way of solving the problem, but I can continue with my job.

I also changed my name in the profile before I did this below test, but it didn't worked.

If this information is helpful for you to find the error, it would be great.

I looked at this a bit.  I can see your crash reports, @fundamental4 - thank you for submitting them.  I can see the source of the crash, but I do not understand why not everyone is seeing it (I do not see it either).  We will investigate it a bit to see what we can come up with.

Can you reproduce this every time?

[edit] - one more request:  Try converting this design to a Parametric Design (Capture Design History), and see if that helps.  Not sure it will, but just testing out a theory...
