Explode text changing text

I am new to Fusion 360. I am trying to explode a single letter to setup a cut for my CBC plasma table. I create the letter, right click, click explode text, the letter changes from a P to an exploded N. I cannot for the life of me figure out how/why it’s doing this. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you tried to extrude the letter P and then use the body to project its geometry on a sketch? 

Please see video attached - it might just work as a workaround 🙂
