Error Message "Unable to open"

Hello!

I am having issues with an error that occurs since yesterday. When I try to update subassemblies in a large assembly, I get an error message that states "unable to open". Here is a screenshot of the error message, unfortunately in german.

ploewQAV5J_0-1670427133610.png

I would expect that message if I saved a file on one computer, the computer did not sync the file, and then I would try to open it on another computer. But I changed the part on the same computer I updated the assembly at. And still the message occurs. It looks like the message described in this support ticket: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Fus...

However, this one states that the error message shows which file it was unable to open. My error message does not show anything like that.

Unfortunately, I can't upload the files, and the strangest thing is that it occurs randomly. Sometimes I can update my assembly, sometimes i get this error message. Does anyone have an idea whats going on?

Best regards

Philipp

Good day @p.loewQAV5J,

It sounds like your file got corrupted during the upload.

Have your opened up a previous version of the file in question to see if it has the same error?

I seem to have the same issue as described in https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Fus...

But: I have the issue 100% reproducible when modifying a file on MacOS (Fusion v2.0.15050 x86) and then opening in the latest Windows version (Fusion 2.0.13377). I can still edit and save the document on MacOS, but whenever I switch to my Windows computer, the describe issue appears.

-> This even happens if I export the document as .f3d file and transfer it manually to my Windows machine.

Any suggestion, how to proceed?

Best regards

Christian

Thank you for finding the steps to reproduce the issue.
If you are experiencing the "Update Required" error it might be worth uninstalling both MAC & WIN versions and reinstalling the latest to ensure that all the updates have been installed succsessfully.

Thanks for the hint!

Reinstalling first sounded like a measure of last resort.

But it really fixed the issue 🙂

I assumed it would be normal that Mac and Windows versions had different version numbers. This has been true for me for quite a while now. 😉

Thanks again, and best regards

Christian
