Since updating to the 2026 Fusion, I offered my daughter that I would fix her design to split it up into separate designs and get out of the hybrid mode as her design is too big to manipulate effectively, to many eyeballs to switch on /off, and I wanted ot show here how cad is really meant to work designs and assemblies are different files!   After doing that I started to tackle the global parameters (which honestly is terrible and sorry to say shameful, do as inventor did even a decade ago, it's all per project).

Have not made any progress on this front because I can't edit a sketch without the fusion SW freezing the 3D object and a blue version of the sketch, the tirade on the top right corner stops work, no little house next to it shows up, and from then on all that works is finish sketch and hopping to another design tab, but they are useless as the frozen window remains to prevent another design from showing up or allowing any sketch edits.

Restarting fusion ONLY works till the first edit sketch of any part, even the simplest part results in the freeze.

reboot, uninstalling, reboot and reinstalling fusion - same issue - tried days of variations, close to a week on figuring out how to get fusion to TRULY uninstall, it leaves stuff everywhere, resorted to manually deleting autodesk and fusion folders everywhere after the unistall was ""complete"", finally removing registry entries I got it to reinstall and work, but then after a few hours of messing around with the parameters making them have the _Ref (fyi importing CSV with the _ref postfix does not work even thought its in the derived file of each design, it's all manual for ~115 parameters per file, the delete select all user params and trash them delete too many 😞 ) to make them global - but I digress, the key point is the **** problem returned!

The files sketches are editable on another computer and this last time it died while trying to edit a design that had not caused the issue, so I don't think it our files.  I also don't believe it our computer as it works very well on many other activities outside of fusion.

Have no idea how permanently fix this as the reg edit solution with reinstallation is not practical - sorry to vent but am burned out on this problem

Can you File>Export your *.f3d or *.f3z file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply for validation?

Thanks so much for helping with this.

Here is a video of what is happening.

Small break thorough:

I have tried creating a test case to send as I was say it happens with any design file, which is true, but may not with a new one that has no common root.  on a from scratch new desing in the same troublesome project, I noticed it does allow me to edit sketch on a brand new design file.  So it looks to be something to do with having taken her single hybrid design + assembly file and breaking it up into several (25) smaller designs, maybe the history has blown up out of proportion, it was painful to create each design as there were shared projections etc... and bit convoluted history at times.  Note, she (my daughter) made many iterations to get to the assembly that I started converting to the 2026 style of fusion for her.

Question1:  Is there a way to easily remove (read as "bulk remove") meaningless history in each file as likely every file has the various revs of the full design history from the full design and assembly?  I ask as each part (new design file) was created from a unique copy of the single hybrid assembly and then deleting all the other part bodies/components, fixing the many warnings, and converting from a hybrid to a design file to save as an independent component (very painful process for several of the components).  Note as you see in the video the timeline is short only showing what is used, but does it store a full history on how it got dwindled down to the single component somewhere, if so, that could be influencing this issue?

Question2:  After all components/bodies were made individual design files, I added a derive and moved it to the front of the timeline on each design file, this one has all the global parameters (using the "insert derive" with Parameters favorites checked" from a design file that has all the global parameters only, yes also created by copying the original hybrid design and deleting all components/bodies and saving as a new design.)  Wondering if this may be an issue for fusion, there are about 115 global parameters being inserted the history timeline is empty, but does it store it anyway, I don't know.

Thanks a bunch, you have already moved me forward a bit, hoping the above sheds more light on what I may be doing to create the edit sketch fusion "partial" display showstopper freeze
