Drawings - Recent update modifies MODEL_PART_NO (et. al.) behaviour

The recent update appears to have change the behaviour of referenced properties/attributes for sheet metal objects.

I have a number of drawings that are several years old, but that I reference (and/or update) reasonably frequently as idividual parts go through their lifecycle.

When I opened a drawing after the recent update - I received the following message:

There are flat pattern properties in this drawing. They will be updated with folded model properties now.

And as a result, where I previously had a functional parts list on a page, or an attribute referencing MODEL_PART_NO, these are now showing --- (3 dashes).

Can someone explain what has changed ?  Nothing mentioned in the update blog is there ?

Any number of attempts and I cant seem to get anything capturing the part number.

These drawing files contain probably 100 to 150 pages - so I have no plans to recreate them again.

Glenn.

Hello @carl.j.barker,

The 3 dashes "---" issue is different than the part number change mentioned by Phil, we have added a separate ticket (FUS-197069 ).The team is working on this, but at present I am not sure when the fix will be available, I will update here as soon as I get information from team.

Thanks!

The Insider build was promoted to current production and contains the fix for the legacy part number/name issue. (not the dashes)

Fusion can now be updated to build 2601.1.37 to get the fix.

(go to the Help menu > check for updates)

Thanks for the reports!

If this update was intended to resolve the problem I reported - it has not.

I note the comment above about "---" ... and this fix not resolving that.  But ... that was my original problem ??

Please advise.  At the moment I have a bunch of drawings that say nothing.

Hello @gvisca44 ,

This update will not resolve the issue you reported, it is still in works.

Thanks!

Where is this at ??

I now need to do an update into a drawing - and all pages (over 100) are showing "---" as the part number.

This is an absolute farce !!

Hello @gvisca44 ,

This will be out in July Release, I have mailed you the steps to get the issue fixed in July Insider build, since this only effects few users we have given a text command to fix the issue.

I request you to please try the July Release Insider build for this issue. As mentioned the fix will be out anyway in Production in July 15 release probably.

Regards,

Md Adam Ali.

Hello @carl.j.barker ,

The fix provided is not for all users and those who get this issue will have to use the text command mentioned below.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Steps to get the part list back :

  1. Run text command FusionDoc.EnableDrawingWrongRefDesignFix and click enter
  2. Open Drawing >> The parts list shall show all properties now.
  3. Make some (dummy) update/change in the drawing so as to enable save option. E.g. Just switch to another sheet. (This can be reverted later)
  4. Save Drawing.

Regards,

Md Adam Ali.

Hey Adam,

By the looks of it - the text command environment wide ? ( ... I dont have to enter for every drawing ?)

Hello @gvisca44 ,

After entering this command FusionDoc.EnableDrawingWrongRefDesignFix, when you open any drawing you should get properties now, but the catch here is to save the drawing file, the save have to done on all affected drawings, once saved the changes will take effect , if you have not opened the drawing file after entering the command and closed fusion session, you have to add the command again in next fusion session.

Just a scenario I want to add here

Suppose you have 2 drawings D1 and D2 with the issue mentioned here

  1. Open fusion , add text command
  2. Open D1 drawing , you see updated properties
  3. Save drawing file D1
  4. The second drawing D2, you have not opened till now
  5. Now you closed fusion
  6. Reopen fusion and open D1, you will have properties shown here
  7. Now you open D2, this will still have issue
  8. Close this D2 and add text command
  9. Now open D2 again, this will show properties and now save.
  10. Now reopen fusion and open D1 and D2 will have correct properties shown.

Regards,

Md Adam Ali

Thanks,

that makes sense.  So environment wide, but not persistent.

Hoping you can suggest / guide on something else.

So I have a drawing that consists of some 130+ pages.  Most components in the drawings have two pages - 1 that is the sheet metal flat pattern, and another page that represents the folded model.  The flat pattern page typically shows the flat pattern view, with a bend table and dimensions between bend lines.  The finished view may contain several views, details etc. for the sheet metal press brake operator to program up their press.

I have been working through this drawing file based on the fix discussed in this post.  I have fixed about 12 components so far - all good.

But I have just struck one component that will only display "Flat Pattern" for the Part Number and Part Name, and "---" for the Description.  The Material seems to be displayed correctly.

I have tried updating the particular part to force a refresh - to no avail.

Any ideas ?

Glenn.

Hmmm ...

further to previous post - I'll be buggered if it didnt just update.

It would appear that with larger models - this process can take a little while.

Hi @gvisca44 ,

Nice to hear that, as mentioned if there are more properties it will take some time.
