Dimension Text Missing

Folks,

Since one of the recent updates, I'm noticing that in some files Fusion stops displaying the dimension text.  The dimension lines, extension lines and leader line are all showing and you can double click on the end of the leader and get the dimension entry box to show up, but the dimension value remains hidden after the entry box closes.  Show/Hide dimension appears to have no effect.

Screenshot attached.

Hi @CruftMeister ,

Thank you for posting in the forum! Would you mind sharing a public link to the design that you are experiencing the issue with so I can investigate?

Hi Masa,

I have invited you into the project but have discovered that this behavior only happened on one of my machines, the other (both are Macs) is fine.  Very curious now though is that on the machine that demonstrated the issue I can no longer launch Fusion - it just hangs on launch - so it appears that the install has become corrupt.  I will uninstall and reinstall and try again.

OK, I used the uninstaller to completely remove Fusion from my laptop (MB Pro) then reinstalled from ther latest installer.  The behavior is still occurring on the laptop, but not on my desktop machine (Mac Pro).

Thoughts?

Hi @CruftMeister ,

Thank you for your response! It seems like I have not been invited to your project. Would you mind sharing a public link to your design with me?

Also, I assume it may be related to your graphics card. Could you attach your graphics information as well?

Hi Masa,

So that you know, I've been using Fusion on the affected system (MBP) for months without issue until now. I've not made any configuration changes to the system and only noticed the problem after one of the most recent updates, hence my conclusion that it was a Fusion issue, but who knows.

As I mentioned before, this file is part of an ongoing design and I am not at liberty to share it publicly.  I tried inviting you by inferring your email address, but that must not have worked. As I can not share the file where I discovered the issue, I have shared a different file that is non-critical but also shows the same behavior - URL & Graphics Diag below.  At some  point, Autodesk should come up with a better solution than sharing files publicly to get support - that really isn't a viable solution for many of us.

URL:

https://a360.co/2OlSM8c

Graphics Diagnostic:

[GPU Information]

GPU Device: AMD Radeon Pro 560X

GPU RAM: 4096 MB

GPU Driver API: OpenGL Core Profile

[Graphics Effects Settings]

Use high-resolution graphics: Off

Anti Aliasing: On

Ambient Occlusion: On

Object Shadow: Off

Ground Shadow: On

Ground Reflection: Off

Selection Display Style: Normal

Transparency Effect: Better Performance

[Limit effects to optimize performance]

Off

Let me know if you need me to tweak any settings within Fusion.

Hi Art,

Thank you for your response. You can share a public link via private message and that way you don't need to post a link publicly.

In the design you shared in your previous post, which sketch are you seeing the issue with? Are you seeing the issue with all the sketches in this design?

As a quick test, could you try switching the Graphics driver setting to OpenGL to see if that makes a difference?

Hi Masa,

Yes, I was seeing that behavior in any of the sketches that I opened.

I just tried setting Graphics to OpenGL. That railed the CPU for some time when Fusion launched, but did not solve the issue.

Any other ideas?

Hi Art,

Thank you for your response. I'm having difficulty reproducing the issue and not sure what's causing the issue for you at this point.

I'll check with the internal folks and post more information as soon as I have one.

I just noticed there is another forum post with the same symptom here. In this forum thread, it seems like the root cause was a missing font, and installing Arial font fixed the issue.

Do you have Arial font installed on your system?

Hi Masa,

Ah, too bad, I looked in the Font Book on that machine and Arial is loaded, but that would make sense.  Any other thoughts?

Thanks,

Unfortunately I'm not sure what else we can try to fix it right now. I'll check internally and keep you updated.

Hi!

Did this issue ever get resolved? I'm running the most recent Fusion 360 on a Macbook Pro. Arial fonts installed & can't find anything else online in the past year re this.

Cheers!

Hi Niallbell,

I had to submit a support ticket to get this resolved, but the good news is, it is fixable.  The fix was to copy the Arial Fonts into the Mac System/Library/Fonts folder (see screenshot from support case 15504314 )

https://www.dropbox.com/s/rfx5oh480niiv0o/Arial%20Fonts.zip?dl=0

I put a dropbox link of the Font zip they sent me above.  Maybe give this a try and see if it fixes the issue on your system. Other than that, you can always submit a ticket and refer to the above case number.

Even if it's an old topic, I stumbled upon the same problem.

Capture d’écran 2021-10-13 à 14.27.14.png

This is a sketch from a quite large project (at least for me) with about 15 sketches (some are sharing points, some are 3D sketches). As you can see, some dimensions appear normally (both driving and driven) but on some others, the value isn't displayed.

I checked if my font folder contains the necessary Arial fonts listed in the @CruftMeister 07-24-2019 post.

I tried to reinstall Fusion 360.

I also tried to export and then import the projet.

None of these solved the problem.

Any suggestion?

Thanks

Hello,

Today the missing dimensions have reappeared!

It's a good news but it's a bit scary. So, if someone has an explanation it will be good.

Thanks,
