design to drawing incapable to insert as dxf and use as a sketch

The New Drawing From Design feature produces a .dwg file that cannot be translated into a .dxf file and used as a sketch.  Entities in the .dxf file are not 2D and the file cannot be used to create a useful sketch using the Insert DXF feature.

Attached are two screen shot files as illustration.

(1) Draftsight_dxf.png shows what appears to be a 2D drawing created from a Fusion 360 design but which actually is composed of 3D entities.

(2) After_insert_dxf.png shows that entities are actually 3D,  are positioned in a 3D space, and will not form contigous areas that might be extruded or revolved.

This workflow worked much better back in 2016.

Hi @kdrector ,

Thank you for posting in the forum! Below are related forum posts:

If you are planning to insert DXF to another design, I think saving sketch as DXF file will work.

save as dxf.png

Hi Masanobu,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

Neither of the posts you refer to have anything to do with my complaint.  The first deals with editing the .dwg output file in ACAD.  The second deals with non Autodesk products not accepting the .dwg file with newest features now produced by Fusion 360.  Both of these are valid complaints, but not the same as mine.

Your proposed work around suggesting to save from a sketch is not really a solution to the complaint.  The processing of the input .dxf file to produce a 2D sketch is incorrectly performed and is clearly a BUG.
