This is a nasty UI bug that started when I updated to this week's build, v2.0.5658

The history marker in the timeline just disappears! I just made a quick video...

some easy steps to make it go to infinity and beyond...

1) open file

2) select sub component in browser, and make it active

3) the design history time must be set to filter active component

4) and presto the marker is gone forever.

This is really a handicap to use F360 now. I've seen someone post a video about "giggling the scrollbar to get the marker back. That doesn't work here.

Please restore this basic functionality of F360.

@teknoel - that is great to hear that you can reproduce it.  If you can send us a file and a set of steps (or a video) that will reliably reproduce that state, we'd be very happy, and would prioritize a fix.  We have been chasing this for months, but if you know anything about software development, you know that you have to have a way to reproduce a problem in order to diagnose and fix it.

This happened to me just now, all I had done was switch from one open file to another and edited a sketch and it disappeared.

What kind of actual log data can I send to you without sending model data, as I don't feel comfortable sharing designs/models of what I'm working on. There are many files in the Diagnostic Logs zip file that is generated. I'm certain not all are required for such a UI bug, so I'd like to share the minimum amount of system and model data as I can while trying to help with this irritating bug.

I'll be sure to do it next time it happens since it seems to do so every time I use the program for at least a few hours.

Perhaps a related bug; I just saw the view orientation cube from the top right of the view port disappear from a file I was working on.

To confirm, I switched tabs to another open file and it was still there.

Closed the offending tab and reopened and the view orientation cube reappeared.

Not sure if it's related; but perhaps it suffers from the same bug and can give dev team a hint as to why UI elements are vanishing.

I get the lost marker as well in 2.0.7046  Win10 quite often.

There are additional bugs in the time line related to scrolling

• open a part with a long timeline and scroll to the right - need a time line long enough to get a scroll bar
• switch to a different part tab
• switch back to the original part tab
• the scroll bar and icon list is out of sync - the scroll bar is in the original position but the icon list has scrolled to the left end.

The icon list is not being refreshed correctly - maybe this has something to do with the lost marker.

Does this on 1920x1200 and 1920x1080

this is an enormous PITA - when will multiple monitor support be implemented in Fusion360 ?

Behavior changes with screen size and whether F360 is maximized or not

Screen size  1920x1080

• maximised marker present
• restored down marker not present

Screen size  1920x1200

• same F360 session dragged to different monitor
• marker not present in either mode

The scrolling bugs occur in both screen sizes and both modes.

I think I've narrowed down this bug to being associated with editing previously created hole features in a multi-component assembly.

switching back and forth between components and editing/saving the features eventually leads to the timeline marker disappearing.

finally I was able to reproduce this bug. Please see the screencast.

It is required to be in a sub component, set back the marker and scroll the timeline, so parts of it are not visible. When the marker is moved forward in front of the last visible step, it will disappear.

There is another post about timeline marker disappearances here. In message 43 there is a list of 3 other ways to make it disappear. Just mentioning it to close the loop. Outside of these (4) methods, if anyone else has an easy way to reproduce the effect, please also post a screencast video like the one above, it's very helpful.

There appears to be one other common factor between this design and my experience of it happening - a complex design with many elements in it.   Which likely makes pinning the cause down very tricky... sadly.

@I_B_Jones Good observation. Yes, the missing timeline marker disappearing is related to any model with a timeline that is longer than the screen is wide. Most of the issues happen when something changes while the timeline marker is currently not on the screen, i.e. at the end of a timeline that is wider than the screen.

One remedy you should always try: press Move to End button in the timeline play controls.

These are the known ways to trigger it:

1. Opening the data panel: If the timeline marker is off screen when you open the data panel it will not be visible again until you close the data panel.

2. Resizing the application frame. If the timeline marker is off screen when the application frame changes size, such as going from maximized to a smaller size. Maximize Fusion when this happens.

3. Repeatedly pressing "move to end" timeline control. This is the play control that puts the timeline marker at the end, and also changes the view to see the end of the timeline. Try scrolling timeline view back and forth, or pressing the button again.

4. Dragging the marker. When a sub-component is active, and the end of the timeline is off screen, and you drag the marker towards it, and bump into the right side of the screen.

If you find another way, please let us know.

Hi @Phil.E ,   That's a useful list of "triggers" that should restrict quite tightly where the code bug(s) are.

I hope the Autodesk F360 team is able to catch this critter - it's been running around a long time biting ankles 🤔.

Not sure from my experience that "Move to end of timeline" always clears it. I think sometimes I've just had to save, close and re-open my design.

there's still a synchronization issue between icon list and scroll bar when swapping tabs

  - this mightn't seem like its too important but its a serious PITA if youre frequently switching between tabs

          5sec - starting point -  icons and scrollbar in-sync - scrollbar fully right

        10sec - switched to another tab and back to original tab - icons and scrollbar out-of-sync, scrollbar right, icons left

        13sec - playing with scrollbar puts icons and scrollbar in-sync

  - how do I see this working? 

          when you switch tabs it should remember where the scrollbar was AND have the ICONS insync.

I have not seen this problem in a long time, just happened to me today. Windows 10 machine. Working away, and the timeline marker was gone, don't know what triggered the bug. Had to close out and re open to get it back. Right clicking on move-timeline-marker-here option worked, but still did not show the marker.
