Data Panel showing Black window

Hi,

I'm new to Fusion 360. I have problem with data panel. It shows black window there (see attached snapshot). However, first time I used it, it worked fine. But somehow it quits working. I tried rebooting my computer and reinstall Fusion. Neither helps.

Thank you very much!

Can you post your graphics information.

Graphics.png

After this is invoked can you capture a screen shot of the dialog box that will appear on your screen? I would like to review this.

Hello,

Is Your computer equipped with a "Hybrid graphics" or "Switchable graphics"?

These are usually notebooks with ATI or nVidia cards which are configured to use Intel HD graphics in attempt to save power.

It causes problem to rendering of some applications in Windows.

If this is the case try to find the related seetings in the BIOS of Your computer and disable it.

Look for BIOS settings named like this:

  • Hybrid Graphics
  • Switchable Graphics
  • Use Intel Graphics

If You write the model of Your computer I can find it for You and provide more specific help.

Regards,

Alex

Hey Don,

[GPU Information]
GPU Device: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
GPU RAM: 2059 MB (Integrated card)

[Graphics Effects Settings]
Anti Aliasing: On
Ambient Occlusion: On
Object Shadow: Off
Ground Shadow: On
Ground Reflection: Off
Selection Display Style: Normal
Transparency Effect: Better Performance

[Notes]
1. If you have another discrete GPU on your system it is recommended to run Fusion on it to get better performance.

2. If you see any graphics display abnormalities, updating to the latest graphics card drivers could help resolve them; please check with your GPU vendors to download and install the latest graphics card drivers.

3. The effects could slow down the graphics rendering; try to limit them for optimum performance.

I need to look a bit deeper into your system. Could you attach a system NFO file of your machine?

Win 7: Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Information. After the dialog box open please "Save As" choose file type extension NFO format. Please attach it to the post.

Win 8 or 8.1: Select and hold down the "Windows" key on the keyboard (between the Control Key and Alt key on left side normally), while this is held down press "R" key for the "Run" command to launch. Then enter MSINFO32 there and hit a return. After the dialog box open please "Save As" choose file type extension NFO format. Please attach it to the post.

Thank You,

Don

Hey, I cant upload as NFO. "The file NFO.nfo does not have a valid extension for an attachment and has been removed"

Thank you all.

I tried updating graphic drivers and BIOS. I also forced to use individual graphic card for Fusion program. But still no working. Black window is still there. I'm reinstalling Fusion now, see how it goes.

kwane88, lzhang,

I have been working with Development to understand what might be causing this. Usually we first look at graphics driver to update. Could both of you send me your system.nfo files (as the .nfo extension)? Please see my prior post on how to obtain. Can you email them to don.warner@autodesk.com. If needed create a zip file of the NFO and attach it to email. I want to get these to the development team.

@kwane88, I realized you posted a text file but its difficult to sift through it as a text file.

Regards,

Don

Hi Martin, This black screen data panel problem also exists in Apple Computers. Not just PC.

Hi Kingson,

could You please help us to a reproducible case of black dashboard on Mac?

Does it happen to You?

(I just read all 30 posts with keyword "black" and I didn't find a mention of "black dashboard" on Mac.

The particular issue we discussed here so far is very probably related to Switchable graphics on Windows)

Thank You,

Alex

Hello it is a black Data Panel, not black dashboard. But this problem existed before the "Quality Update". So far I had not experienced that anymore. That is on my MacMini Quad Core I7. I do not have two graphic cards on this computer.

In fact Eric (kwane88 who also reported that) was at my office. I just opened Fusion 360 to show him what it is like and the Data Panel was Black.  After some times i restarted Fusion360 and it seems to be fine. Kwane88 is using PC. I had seen him yesterday he said the problem hsn't been solved yet. I advised him to get a MacBook Pro just to do Fusion360. Maybe easier.

There is a time difference here. We are in Asia, not the US.

Thanks!

Hi Martin, I was checking out this other forum (link below). Seems really convoluted to turn off the switchable graphics on my computer. There must be a better solution.
