Compression Mould Design of Complex Generatively Designed Body

Hello

The end goal is I want to make a forged carbon (Compression moulded) part similar to the attached complex geometry part.
Search "easy composites forged carbon youtube" to have an idea of what I'm talking about.

I need to design a multi part mould to produce this. Simply combine cutting from a larger box body doesn't work as I need a "piston" piece to be able to do this.

I can't seem to be able to extrude from a mid-plane projection or sweep along a path to do a swept cut.

Any ideas how a compression mould for this could be made?
(This isn't the end goal piece but a simplified version with a more obvious mould split direction so I can learn how to do it, i.e. this part is "flatter")

To try and explain it better the end goal mould split planes would need to be a complex 3d shape according to the draft angle, i.e. not a simple single plane slice of the design. Complicated, but should be possible.

Hi @stefan_radovich,

This post reminds me of a similar topic that @Ben-Weiss provided a solution for, attaching a step-by-step video:

Hope this helps,
