Cannot update or insert configured design

I have a relatively simple configured design which I have inserted in multiple other designs as a linked component. However, all of a sudden, I cannot get the latest version anymore in these designs. Sometimes it loads for multiple minutes just to get stuck. Sometimes, it prompts an error saying the design is temporarily unavailable and I should try again later.
When I try to insert the configured design into a new empty design, the "select configuration" prompt just loads forever (it shows the configurations correctly, but greyed out). I have also copied the file and tried to insert it but that resulted in the same issue.
I have also cleared the cache but that did not change anything either.
With other configured designs, I have no issues.

Any solution on how to deal with this without breaking all my designs?

Hi, there was a service issue today that affected configuration design saves and subsequent inserts.

This issue has been resolved. If you still cannot insert a configuration, please open the configuration design. If you see a prompt to repair the configuration design by saving, click to save and repair.

Update: maybe I typed too soon. There is still a degradation warning in the health dashboard:

Hello,

I have exactly the same issue as this. I have a configured design which I can't insert into a new design (Select Configuration dialogue box - all configurations greyed out and perpetual spinning wheels). Additionally when I Get Latest in designs where the configured design is already used, it hangs forever with the message displayed 'Get Latest Version .. Press ESC to Cancel'. Pressing ESC stops the process with message saying component out of date.

I too have cleared cache, added to Offline cache, copied the design as a new file, deleted cache folder in Windows Explorer - all with no success.

If you think the issue has been resolved, it hasn't!

I look forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks

for me it actually works again today. I saved and uploaded the configured design and was then able to update it in all other designs without issues or extensive latency. It must have been a server issue. However, this does not necessarily mean it is solved for everyone - some other configured designs actually never stopped working for me.

Have you edited the configured design file today? For me, it broke yesterday, worked this morning, then broke again when I edited the configured design

I just tested:

  1. Without editing the configured design, added it to a new file (worked)
  2. Edited the configured design, then added it to a new file again (did not work first try, worked in a second file but with longer than usual loading time)
  3. Updated the edited configured design in an existing assembly (worked but with slightly longer than usual loading time)

So, you seem to be correct: The problem is back - at least partially (ping @kgrunawalt )

I just created a new design, a simple cube and made it a configured design. Exactly the same behaviour - on inserting this design in a new blank design, Select Configuration is all greyed out. So it's not my file, it's either my install of Fusion or Autodesk cloud? @kgrunawalt

The incident was resolved last night, so I don't know why you are still having an issue. Can you export your cube and attach or send it to me at katrin dot grunawalt at autodesk dot com?

If you can provide a log file (via email), it could help.

If you open the cube.f3d which is a configured design, do you see a dialog prompting to repair?

Hi @kgrunawalt Thanks for getting back to me. Last night I uninstalled Fusion and reinstalled it. This morning everything seems to be working fine. I also downloaded Desktop Connector, somewhat in desperation having tried everything else, thinking it could help with data sync?! Who knows!

Any advice on how to avoid a similar situation in the future? Any merit in only editing linked components with no other designs open? I lost a day and a half which I have not got time to do again!

Thanks

@kgrunawalt ,

I'm having the same issues described in these recent posts (new configured design or fresh edited configured design can't be inserted in assemblies: all options in the pop-up window are all greyed out).
I read on the Health Dashboard that there was a problem with Fusion and now it is resolved, but I'm still having these issues.
I created a very simple test configured file and tried to insert it in a new design (see video attached).

Is the uninstall / reinstall Fusion the only option ?

UPDATE: configurations are working now.

Several hours have passed since the Health Dashboard announced the problem was solved. Please, check this behavior for the next times, thank you.

I am currently having this issue - see attached screenshot of a configuration selection window hanging. I've tried restarting Fusion, loading the same component into an empty file, and reverting the state to the previous one. I'm running on Mac OS 15.6 and Fusion version 2702.1.58.
