Cannot move designs between projects in project gallery

I was organizing files into new project folders when the choice of where to move disappeared.  I've included a screen shot of what the menu looks like after right clicking and selecting move.

Also, if I got to my hub in a browser and try to move the files I get an error saying I can't move that file.

I still cannot move files between folders or save as to a different folder.

Hi @citrusbobiel,

What do you mean by project gallery?

Do the files you are trying to move have links?

Its hard to see from your picture what is happening. There isn't enough detail to see the data panel and files/folder structures.

Hello Ryan,

The lack of info in the screen shot is the problem.  Normally when you right click and select move there would be options of where to move the file but as you can see when I select move, I have no where to move the files.  The box is empty.    Also, if I open the file and Save as the same issue happens.  There are no options as to where to save the files.

What about from A360 or the hub via a browser?

Really we need to figure out what the issue is. It could be a hub, user access, Fusion, graphics driver etc.

I have not tried from the browser.  How do I access project files in the browser.

The issue was discovered while using A360.  Also, I just noticed that this is only happening with a few files in the project.  Some can move and some cannot move.

The ones that cannot move, do they contain links?

Yes, they do.

I see.  So, you cannot move linked files?  Or can they be group selected and moved?

Generally yes you are correct. However, if you select the main file and its links it should be able to move within a folder of that project. I've only tested moving it into a new sub folder but was able to move it.

Cool!

Thanks for the clarification.

One more question.  If you break the links will it be able to move outside of the project?

Yes but you'd need to move it through the browser at that point. Fusion doesn't see it beyond that project in the data panel.

This is rather limiting, and a bit annoying. Is there any indication of why you cannot move across project, or to see if there are linked references? as of now the only indication is it doesn't show the project panel in the move dialog, this is bad UI/UX, it needs an icon or something in the gallery. Ideally moving across projects would be allowed or allow a linked move or clone all links.

This thread is getting close to two years old now.

Really this is entirely possible in Fusion Teams - which folks are being migrated to and new users will never experience this as they were never on a personal hub. Personal hubs did not have this feature of moving links folders as they were under a different architecture and those cross project links and moving links were not possible.
