Cannot drag and rearrange features in the feature tree.

Hello,

Once I make a feature, its position is set in stone. I cannot drag it to a different position in the timeline. I've tried all sorts of features and have made sure they are not dependent on another feature that would stop me from moving them. I have capture design history selected and I'm talking about the features that show up at the bottom of the screen in the horizontal tree. Any ideas? is there some sort of setting I have on?

Thank you!

Hi,

without insight into the design an evaluation is not possible

Please share the file.

File > export > save as f3d on local drive  > attach it to the next post.

I demonstrate the use of moving features in the timeline.  You also can move the End of Part marker back to a point you need to add a feature and accomplish the same thing.  Dependency of features will be key to moving a feature, moving the End of Part marker not as much.  Please attach you model and explain what you need and someone will help you.  If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.

It is hard to tell in your video, but the only thing you CAN move, in your timeline of this model, is the sketch and extrusion of the cylinder.  All the rest are dependent features.

yeah the weird thing is, I can't even move that sketch. This wasn't an issue a week ago, and I can't figure out what I changed.

You have me stumped also.  I assume you have done all the normal troubleshooting things such as close Fusion 360, restart your computer and try again.  Also you might want to consider using one of the options in the Fusion 360 Service Utility such as Repair.

In your sample design, each feature in the timeline has a hard dependency on the feature before it.  Extrude1 depends on Sketch1.  Fillet1 depends on Extrude1.  Fillet2 depends on Fillet1.  Sketch2 depends on Fillet2.  And, Extrude2 depends on Sketch2.  I would not expect any features in that timeline to be able to be reordered.

Jeff,

As you can see in my Screencast, sketch 2 and extrude 2 are not dependent and can be moved in the timeline.

ah, I see - I was reading this on my phone, so did not watch your screencast.  Yes, Sketch2 and Extrude2 can be reordered as @jhackney1972 showed, so I have no idea why you might be having problems, @andrew.ferrier.   Can you record a screencast of what happens when you try to drag sketch2 in your installation?

I have the same issue.

Even old projects where I was able to rearange the features show this problem.

In addition I tried to "Repair Fusion 360" from the Service Utility Menu without luck.

I hope this issue gets solved soon. I am not suffering it in other computers.

Please attach a model you are having this issue in and explain what you want to change in the timeline.  Open the model, select the File menu, select Export and save to you hard drive.  Attach to you next post.

I just tried to rearange the features in the timeline of this model in the Fusion 360 (Online browser version) and it is working normally there. I took this actions already:

1 - I have restarted my computer several times.

2 - Uninstalled Fusion 360 it and deleted the autodesk folder .../User/AppDate/autodesk. Then reinstall again the latest version. (2 times)

3 - Repair Fusion 360 from the "Service Utility Menu"

And still not working.

You responded to @andrew.ferrier but I created a Screencast showing you that rearranging the timeline is not an issue.  The only thing I can suggest is to check to see if your Fusion 360 is up to date or maybe you need to use the Fusion 360 Utility to repair your installation.

We have the same version:

2.0.13881

This seems to be a bug.

This is just a guess but I think that the issue started after enabling  "Component Color Swatch" in the Design history bar.
