You mean like this? I didn't see any problem while performing Combine with Cut Operation:

Edit mold sketch if you want to actually use the funnels.

Your issue may be the order you are selecting the bodies during the Combine command.  The Target body is the main block and the Tool bodies are the bodies to be cut from the main block.  Screencast will show the process.

thx all for the responses, I swear it would not work for me the way you described.  I selected the mold block first, then the weight bodies.  but magically, overnight now it works.  I must have been doing something wrong.
