Can't select new hole locations when "missing face or points" error is shown

I've noticed when drawing any model, if I got back to a hole feature that I removed or modified the sketch for, I can't select new holes to use the same parameters that are plugged into the hole feature input boxes.

This goes for all models that have missing geometry. I can't just enable a new sketch and relocate those holes. I have to create a new feature, which means any patterning I had has to also be readjusted; this is more work than it should be.

Is this a bug that no one has posted about before? I wouldn't call it a feature request; if the program is telling me it's "missing features or points" then it should let me reselect new points- otherwise, what is the purpose of this error?

EDIT: This seems to only be an issue when it's a multi-hole pattern, and not just a single hole. Single hole locations seem to work as intended and allow re-selection just fine.

Reported 3 years ago!😞 Real annoying bug that creates a lot of work if you try to fix by deleting the feature then recreate, snowballs failures and warning along the timeline.

wow... 3 years.

I think that is a new record for me on discovering bugs that have already been reported numerous times.

And on a most important modelling feature, too.

😕why?

@LiveLover  This should be fixed. Just did a quick test and as long as the holes are into the same body\face you can reselect new points for the holes if the original points are lost.

@HughesTooling  thank You for replying!
I hope I miss something.
I can not choose new points instead of missing (can choose only one point, but initially my Hole tool has many points as input).

it acts exactly as @LiveLover has pointed out. It's just had a measly band-aid thrown on it.

You can select a new hole position, but you cannot select multiple new hole positions from the sketch. So if your initial hole feature was used as a 'From Sketch (Mulitple Holes)' type, it removes this ability once a single reference sketch feature is lost, and defaults the hole feature to the 'At Point (Single Hole)'.

This cannot and should not be considered "fixed", because it doesn't allow you to select holes in the same way that it did during the features initial creation.

This is literally a model breaking bug that will delete an infinite amount of work anywhere in the timeline after the missing hole feature. How such a huge bug still exists in a tool that has received MULTIPLE updates and tweaks since the discovery of this bug (in a tool that's single job is to make holes) is beyond human comprehension.

Maybe F360 team should just split the **** tool into two separate processes. Create Mulitple Holes, and Create Single Hole. That way the program doesn't have to guess and default back to the single hole version and lock you out of the multi-hole version if that's not what you created the feature with in the first place.

I'm just tired of the excuses at this point. It almost makes more sense just to create every hole with the Single Point command and populate the timeline with dozens of hole features and then just group them... That just poses more issues than I care to think about right now.

Here's what I see. If the hole feature used sketch points and the points are deleted I can select new points, even in a different body as long as the body has the same id. In the screencast I created a different body just to try and force an error but it still works.

@LiveLover  OK, I see deleting the sketch and not just the points breaks it! @jeff_strater  Can you take a look?

Here's @LiveLover  screencast. I've never run into this as for me it's always been just the point deleted, normally they have been projected points so the sketch is still in the timeline but no points after an edit.
