Can't insert derive components

Since the latest update, I'm no longer able to insert components as derives. Before, I could just go to "Insert Derive" - Choose the design I wanted - Click on the components I wanted to insert - Click "OK" and then all the components would be inserted into the new design.

Now when I do the same thing, nothing happens when I click on the component. I've tried activating the component as well, but that doesn't seem to help.

It seems to work fine for me at least using the correct process.  Please post a screen recording of your process and be sure to show your full Fusion screen so it shows all picks and dialog boxes.

@johan_sayora

Are you in Part Design, Assembly Design or are you in Hybrid Design?

Hi @johan_sayora

The Insert derive command has been updated with the new document types; the items that can be selected and derived will be based on the destination document type. For the issue that you are facing, please share a video so that we can get a better understanding.

Thank you

Thanks! Choosing part, assembly or hybrid was totally new for me, and that seemed to have been the cause. When actively choosing "hybrid", it now works. Appreciate the help 🙂

I'm having the same issue but in the manufacturing model workspace.  I can select the bodies in the derived component but not the top level component itself.  It seems on and off, sometimes I can insert derive components and sometimes I can't and I can't figure out why because there is no tooltip or any indication as to why the top level component can't be selected.

EDIT: I just checked and in the design space the behavior is the same.  If I open up an older file, the behavior is fine where I can import derive whole components.  But in my newer part file I can't.

This seems breaking to tie import behavior in the manufacturing model to be the same as the design space.  If I want to manufacture a part I shouldn't have to create a new separate assembly file to import my vises and fixtures for manufacturing.

EDIT 2: I'm guessing it's actually just a bug or something because the manufacturing model top level component has an assembly icon next to it but has the same behavior as the part design.  So whatever is deciding the behavior of the insert derive is using the file's design type rather than seeing it's importing into the manufacturing model assembly. If I change the part file from a part to hybrid design, the import derive in the manufacturing model starts working correctly again.  Also, why doesn't the icon for the file type in hybrid match what's in the dropdown menu (the greyed out stack of boxes with the one light box)?  Shouldn't the icon match what's in the dropdown instead of looking like a part design?  This all just adds more confusion to this change.
