Can't apply appearance to specific face

I'm having problems applying an appearance this specific face.

I've gone through all of the possible troubleshooting steps I've found but to no avail.

Applying the polished aluminium finish to this face only results in no change, and no changes made when viewing the properties of the face, it remains Powder Coat (Black).

I am able to change the appearance by applying the change to the entire body.

This is the final step holding me back from supplying a render, so any assistance is appreciated.

I hope I choose the correct faces and appearance.  If not, let me know.  Model is attached.

Hey @jhackney1972,  thanks for the helping hand.

Affected face is highlighted below and still appearing as black powder coat

Edit: I found a solution!

What I had to do was extrude that face by an amount (5mm), then I was able to change the appearance of that face, then extrude the face to it's original location (-5mm).

A bug perhaps?

that is certainly strange.  We'll look into that.  For some reason, this face is not selectable in the Appearance command.  Thanks for sharing the model.

Thanks @jeff_strater

Another solution I found was to apply a different texture, other than the one I wanted to the face first. Then apply the desired texture.
