on further review, this is not a sketch solver problem at all.  If you edit sketch2 on its own, you can change that dimension to any value no problem.  The problem occurs in the Thicken feature.  For some reason, it fails to compute at some values where it computed before.  It seems like a sketch issue when you edit the dimension outside of the sketch environment, but that's just because the edit is one transaction, and if any downstream features fail, the entire transaction fails - in this case the dimension edit.  I'll submit this as a Thicken issue.

While they are looking - I also had a lot of trouble with Thicken relative to the arc size in the sketch.

I did not use the arc size that I wanted as it would not Thicken.  (I understand not Thickening to where it would be zero.)
