BUG: Microsoft WebView2 required to sign in. WebView2 Runtime is already installed. Update* More serious issues.

Frequent and fluent F360 user, never had any serious issues over the last year.  Opening F360 today and was greeted with a fresh login which doesn't happen often, usually I'm just right back in. Upon hitting "Sign In" I get a warning :

"To sign into Fusion 360, you need the Microsoft WebView2 component which is missing from your computer. You can download it directly from Microsoft using the Evergreen Standalone Installer method appropriate for your device."

I acquired the Evergreen Standalone Installer for the latest MS WebView2 component. Upon running it, the software reports WebView2 is already installed on this machine. The fact that I've signed in before- I can't help but wonder if this may have been caused by an update somewhere? Tried all the basics. Any help greatly appreciated.

Same issue here, but I think my machine is experiencing some special issue.

When I first this Windows 10 machine, I uninstalled Microsoft Edge because it keeps searching things on Bing when I make a typo in Windows launch panel.

In the process, I denied admin group and system's access to the Microsoft Edge installation folder (which I think includes Edge Webview).

Evergreen installer says I have Webview installed already.

Tried resetting Edge from Microsoft store, didn't work because I denied machine's access to the Edge installation folder.
Idk, it kinda is my fault, but I never had any issues before Fusion updated their sign-in method. Works on my other machines.

I suspect edge is def at fault here. When MS wouldn't let me remove edge I forcefully removed it with malice using the regeditor and the Force delete options. MS still thinks edge is installed but I use brave as my default webclient.

Yup, it was edge.  I reinstalled it and now its functioning normally.  I can't even begin to express how much I hate edge and how much this pisses me off.  I got rid of edge for a reason.  😠

Microsoft doesn't seem to understand to concept of consent and right to privacy.  So I got rid of them in every way possible.  It might be a shame if I have to extend this policy to Autodesk since I've been using Autodesk products for almost 20 years.  I stopped buying licenses when you moved to the subscription model and was starting to reconsider, but if your going to hold my work hostage and give me zero choices about what software I put on my computer, then I'm starting to think that the juice is not worth the squeeze.  I'm aware of other options and I'll be exploring those carefully.  Like if you agree and please feel free to pass my comments on to management if you think they'll  actually care.

Any idea if you can add the web component to brave instead of fixing microsoft edge spy?

FreeCad is getting better. Im starting to move over to there. Community is great. Software hasn't been that easy to learn, but changes are going quick!

There's supposed to be a standalone install component, but its not working for me. Likely because I've neutered all the MS bloatware that I can. I know its an alien concept to MS, but I do like to use my computer for more than word processing. lol Background processes matter to me.

To those of you forced to add Microsoft WebView client to access your software. This workaround will work until  Autodesk decides to force you to have it constantly active, but you can install the microsoft's webviewer, use it to login  and then uninstall after using it until you have to login again. I don't know how long between checks it will work, but, I just wanted to pass what I found out to others.

I have the same problem, when I try to install Microsoft WebView 2, the computer tells me that it is already installed but it does not appear in the control panel or anywhere. I have tried uninstalling it in C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\Microsoft\EdgeWebView\Application\134.0.312483\Installer and it does not let me because there is a file that Microsoft is using d3dcompiler_47.dll

Thanks for the advise, just run the installer as admin, quicker and easier than reinstall.
Autodesk need to put it in the"Troubleshooting Sign-In Problems" page here:
